okay but have the mods considered celebrating their holidays at a different time so i can rp?

why not just celebrate christmas in july? or celebrating new years in 2021?

you say this with shifty eyes, but i'm forever pissy that parents of so many suburbs in the recent years are trying to push to get a law instated that halloween should fall on the weekend because it's more convenient for them.

tbh i know in some areas with a good number of businesses, there might be special days for parents and kids to go trick or treating in that area to get treats (plus pamphlets/business cards/etc) for free advertisement at a family-friendly time.

or specific businesses/clubs might have "trunk or treat" events for their members/regulars. where people might decorate their car and the kids go from trunk to trunk for treats rather than walking through a whole community. and the business/club may or may not offer food, games, etc inside.

or a community might agree to celebrate halloween on a different day due to weather complications.

but yeah that sounds like some tittybaby shit, lol. i can look up what day halloween 2099 falls on any fucking time i want, how do you not plan ahead? if it doesn't work for you, see if a relative or family friend can take both your kids and their own kids, damn.

When I was a kid I actually loved that stuff. Every neighborhood in my hometown did it different nights so many of us would go in our neighborhood, then go to a friend's another night and get multiple rounds of free candy just because some wanted to do it on the weekend and mine always did it on the day of.

i'm not against people celebrating it on the weekend or doing their own thing and having a halloween party on the weekend if they want, or even a group/town getting together and organizing a halloween celebration thing, but some of the quotes i saw in an interview piece on it last year just pissed me off. it came off as ignorant and entitled, because they were clearly busy parents that had made halloween all about trick or treating for their kids and expecting everyone else to be as concerned to the point of basically going to the town's manager to complain like a true karen.

some holidays were designed to be celebrated with a day off and schedules get adjusted accordingly, like thanksgiving being the x day of x month. christmas is always the 25th and new years is always the 1st. no one would dream of asking a town to switch christmas to the second to last friday or last monday of the year because it's a christian holiday. samhain being a pagan holiday means it doesn't count as religious for commercialites, so they don't actually care about the date so much.

i think i'm just mad because it was my favorite holiday growing up and it's the one people want the most to conform to their lives. no couples are voting for valentine's day to change to a friday night, which would up global sales. or for cinquo de mayo to change days. or st. patty's day to land on a weekend for more drunken potential. using kids to make a point is a bitch move.
