(see being pissy the claptrap voice actor wanted to be paid, punching said voice actor in an unrelated event, and telling the public troy baker just didn't want to be in borderlands 3 when he reality he was never contacted and first heard about his supposed refusal via twitter.)

He did WHAT? Why hasn't Claptrap's VA filed assault charges?

Hell if I know, google's not telling me much beyond 50 news articles and videos specifically about the allegations being brought up at all.

I'm guessing from the skim the situation is one that he thinks if he files the charges he'll lose all chance at ever being paid owed money for the voice acting he already did for claptrap which apparently still hasn't been paid.

SA, anyway, for a spectacular shit show, pick basically any randy centric incident in the lead up to borderlands 3 for a wild ride. There's a lot of them.

Sometimes companies just fire all the dev staff to pocket more cash. Like, that wasn't just a blizard thing, apparently a lot of companies just fucking do that

into the company itself. it's basically a warchest that's used to pay fulltime employees (and most dev staff are not fulltime employees, they work the dev cycle and then their contracts are up), used to pay the *next* group of devs on the next cycle, and fund other projects. in gearbox's case specifically, there's a bonus employees are supposed to get from the game sales, but it sounds like they've had issues getting that out even when there wasn't any controversy drawing attention away from the game.

and like another anon said, sometimes they just straight up pocket most of the profits. it's a bad, broken system for the most part.

i'm not going to pirate it, but the six month wait to get it on steam definitely feels more worthwhile at this point than it did at first.

Bit harsh but it’s true that people who pirate and make a statement about it like they’re sticking it to the man are jerks. Developers do still get money based off sales, and only about 15% of it. The rest is pocketed by CEOs. It’s a messed up system but you aren’t doing much other than depriving those developers.

It’s only fair to pay for their work.
