rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. so many good puns i've had to pass up. frankly it's utter bullshit that the site doesn't free up more names or purge ones that have been completely untouched for years but i assume the whole "what if someone was on deployment" thing is just a front for the admins to not want to have to spend bandwidth on purging so much shit.

More like they don't want to deal with the inevitable hissyfits that will come. First from someone who lost a username they wanted and second from people who have to get a rename token to claim those usernames.

as opposed to the comments they probably get on the regular asking for exceptions to be made or for them to consider doing this or asking when the next purge is going to happen?

Which do you think is easier? Telling someone no, you can't have this thing someone else claimed or telling someone that their thing was given to someone else who wanted it because they weren't using it?

Trust me on this, the former is much easier to deal with. The deployment thing may seem absurd, but it does say that Denise and the others aren't willing to deal with the backlash that is likely to come if they purge usernames that aren't deleted.

I should really give away some of mine since I made a few really dumb choices during the journal rush back in the day and caught some usernames for characters it's really apparent now I was never going to play.

Every time I go for a short one word or pun it's open. Yes things like shoots or magic are gone but it's def not as bad as even like 2009 LJ. Put better effort in.

did you seriously just bootstraps someone over journal names

it depends on the character tbh! for my unpopular dwrp canon, i was able to snap up some really choice usernames, but for popular dragon age companions (for example) goddamn do you have to scrape

i barely, if ever, rp these days, and i've got about 30 usernames sitting around bc of it

the only thing stopping me from compiling them into a list and asking folks to take them is that i don't want them to collect dust like they have with me, and i know there are username snipers out there

i just wish there was a way to make sure people who asked for them were actually planning to use them :(
