I don't even go here but Winds of Winter was a meme when the tv show started almost ten years ago. I feel zero pity for him because he had plenty of time.

Yeah, he really needs to get a fire lit under his ass. Even if he was only writing a 100 pages a year, he should already be at 900 pages out of the estimated 1,500, especially since he moved some chapters from the previous book to this one. And that would STILL mean he needs 6 more years to finish it. I doubt he is that slow, so it honestly makes me wonder wtf he's doing.

I do know from a personal source though that he will spend hours of his time dicking away with people who make custom Dungeons and Dragons models and things like that, telling them exactly how he wants them made, and what color and everything instead of working on the book. So clearly he's living his all too entitled lifestyle to to the fullest.

1) again, you've already got all the food you paid for. basically the cook was like "man I'm working on this baller dessert and it's really going to complement my other signature dishes, so come back soon to try it" and then you came back like "is the dessert ready?" and they were like "ah yeah, there's been a lot going on and there are some issues with one of our suppliers, so we dont have it and i'm not sure when it might be available" and then you left a one-star Yelp review saying "the cook at this restaurant is an oathbreaker, do not trust him!!!! give me my dessert GEORGE!!!"

2) Any still-ongoing canon could end unexpectedly at any time for any reason. if your ability to enjoy something is really, sincerely 100% ruined by its being incomplete, to the extent that you retroactively consider any money or time you spent on it to be a complete waste, then you can wait to start reading/buying/watching something until all parts have been released and it's complete. It sucks that you dont get to enjoy it in real time along with everyone else, but if you can't handle the risk that it might never be completed in the way you want, or even at all, then that's your other option.

Not what I was trying to say at all. What I meant was that when his dorky little habit of collecting figurines is taking up so much time that it's becoming detrimental to his writing, there's a problem there. I'd say the same thing if he was drinking or having hot chicks over every day to give him lapdances. Do whatever the fuck you want, but when you're going days without writing to focus instead on making sure your figurine is colored just the right shade of green, there's a problem.

the product was sold as part one of seven. you can't leave the product hanging in the middle. people wouldn't give money to an unfinished product, he's getting rich on the promise of more. this has happened a lot in the past with tons of products. popular case coming to mind is magazines that would come with the part of a toy or one card of a special deck and they would cancel the publication without finishing it, leaving you with half a deck of cards or just the legs and arms of a dinosaur. people would be pissed then, and for a good reason.

again, "asking for more books" is entitlement is people were asking for sequels or spin-offs. to finish what you started is not.

like that's the whole point. folks are mentally putting folks who are upset that the books aren't done with, like, the ridiculous children who petitioned to have season 8 of the show done over.
