like one statement is all "he said something vaguely shotacon-like nine years ago" and other people are like "he's just as bad as the kenshin mangaka and supports CP" like which is it, what are the facts of this

it definitely sounds like the scenario writer is gross, and the call for replacement is largely coming from within the japanese fandom.

the call for replacement is coming from the korean fandom, and the japanese fandom is mostly quiet about it. the original tweets were google translated so we have nothing concrete to really go off from.

From what I've seen, the Japanese fandom isn't on board with the tag. I've seen a few calling foreign fans scary/creepy because of the original #mms_死ね tag and another saying foreigners dont understand japanese jokes. Without the support of Japanese fans, I doubt this will have much of an effect on anything. I mean, the creator of Rurouni Kenshin commit a legit crime and is back on the scene. If people consider the house arrest and fine Watsuki Nohuhiro got a slap on the wrist, then a guy who said some gross things on twitter will get a flick on wrist at best and Japanese fans banding together against foreign ones and supporting the canon even more at worst.

yeah, honestly at this point who you see using the tag are mostly korean and english fans. i honestly doubt anything is going to come from it, and i know some japanese fans are really angry this is even a thing.
