Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

*watches a tumbleweed blow through this game*

pretty funny too, given how much hype there was for its release. guess it just fizzled out due to lack of structure.

yeah. honestly i'm pretty disappointed, but i don't know what i expected.

i just hope the mods actually show some interest in their own game soon.

could it be because it's december? i was really excited to app to this game :(

Re: MEADOWLARK

(Anonymous) 2018-12-16 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
it's not. the mods just fucked off after the initial hype rush and left the players to deal with the half-established pieces. i really wouldn't bother at this point.

meadowlark mods
We've done things a little differently this month, using some suggestions from the state of the game post and taking into account the lack of full event for December. We hope you have fun with it!
meadowlark mods
As a general note on top of what we've already mentioned on the calendar and in the notes on this log, things are likely to be quite a bit slower over December. We'll still be getting to questions when we can, but the holidays will be keeping us very busy, so please bear with us!

????

What? Are you mixing up this game and another one?

that anons experience is completely unlike mine. december has been slowest month so far but thats mostly its the holiday season.

if you want to get into the plot you need to use the plot engagement post. if go to the mods with ideas you want your character to pursue theyll give you something to work with. you can also involve yourself with what other characters are doing and have yours suggest things or help investigate. a lot of activity seems to be happening on characters personal monthly logs or in ic inboxes.

it is more work that other games but i feel rewarded for that work

is there a lot of ooc discussion about what other characters are doing? or somewhere to look at information already gathered? i see some plot-related network posts but as someone who is new, a lot of it is going over my head and i'd rather not force people to play 20 questions with me.

Check out the plot engagement post! The mods recently made a state of the game post in November encouraging people to keep an eye on it, both to see what's going on and for ideas on how to further their own plots. You can also check the event tag and calendar tag on the OOC community, as there are meaty pieces of information on those posts.

fwiw I don't think anyone minds helping out newbies.

i've checked the plot engagement post but it's unfortunately not that helpful... it all appears to be "so-and-so wants to do X, what happens?" which feels like it's already been planned out, not much room for someone else to jump in. :( idk, maybe i'm misunderstanding.

hey there! a lot of stuff is plotted out icly and then people touch base oocly or just go ahead to the plot engagement post. there isn't a whole lot of plotting going on on plurk so much as it coming about through ic interaction. i know the mods plan on having everyone do their plotting for events in the ooc community to prevent this in the future, as everyone fell off that train with the second event (and it showed).

Re: MEADOWLARK

(Anonymous) 2018-12-20 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
plotted out icly = in cliquey threads. how is ic interaction going to be helpful to new players if the game is being dominated by cliquey behavior? the majority of posts where anything is being discussed get overrun by threadjacking and in-jokes. you can say the mods are going to stop people from plotting on plurk but it's unrealistic to expect the mods to ban people from making plans on their plurks.

you refusing to acknowledge anyone else's experience is a real shame. i hope the mods aren't approaching this problem in the same way. if so, the rest of us might as well pack our bags.

the amount of misleading OH THE GAME'S FINE, YOU JUST NEED TO ENGAGE WITH IT MORE shit going on in here is absolutely gross. you're giving a totally wrong impression to everyone else and totally glossing over the glaring issues the game has. if you can even call it a game at this point.

Re: MEADOWLARK

(Anonymous) 2018-12-20 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
out of curiosity, what cliques are dominating the plot?

Re: MEADOWLARK

(Anonymous) 2018-12-20 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
There’s no unity in the game, everyone wants to be a superstar so it makes working together on plot outside of 2-3 people difficult. If there was less plot engagement and more of an idea of people having to work together on a presented problem, that might work better. I wouldn’t even say the solution system similar to Futurology, but that’s all I have to compare it to. That also had issues with people favoring their friends OOCly if I recall.

Re: MEADOWLARK

(Anonymous) 2018-12-17 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
no. the mods are so hands off that cliques have monopolized all the information about the plot. there isn't much to do for people otherwise.

another anon here is trying to say if you use the plot engagement post you're rewarded and that's not really true. there's nothing to do with that information once you get it if you aren't already involved. the game has no structure. if you app just be prepared to treat this like a sandbox and don't expect very much.

glad to know I am not crazy for also feeling this way. :/ that's really a shame.

Re: MEADOWLARK

(Anonymous) 2018-12-19 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
this game has started feeling really cliquey in general

Re: MEADOWLARK

(Anonymous) 2018-12-22 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
ia that this is a problem, It's so difficult when you have a character who would be entrenched in plot but you as the player don't want to contribute to the piles of info specific ppl are getting. But honestly, even as cliquey as the game seems, everyone does a ton of tagging out.

The mods are getting domineering though, when they do get around to their own plot engagement post (after like 2 weeks, which puts a lot of new, non-clique people's plot reqs on the backburner for so long the next event is already happening by the time they say "no" lmao). For a sandbox game there is a rigid spine to it.

So that could be why only a handful of players are getting serious info drops while others are left floundering.
