The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Plot post was 10 mins late too. I wish they'd be more on time, especially because they screen their post so our alerts dont work.

Honestly the tracking not working is pretty frustrating

that's not at all unique to this game, though? mods usually work on their big posts ahead of time and then unscreen after when it's ready to go, so using the alert system like that was never going to work. it's how it's been done in every game i've played in in the past few years so it's not like they're doing anything drastically different here.

honestly, i have to agree that you guys need to chill. you're not going to die if you can't shove your plot posts immediately to the front of the pack the instant the thing goes up or wait an extra few minutes for your info. stop worrying over shit that doesn't matter in the long run and just relax.

It's not that. It's that because I can't track the post, I can't sit and wait for a ping in my inbox. I literally have to refresh the page until it's unscreened. It was an hour late yesterday

I used to be a mod and we'd create a mock post, then copy and paste it to a new post so everyone gets their alerts. It's not hard.

hi! mod of another game here, and we do it the same way duplicity does. we draw up a mock post and then c/p it over, but we still lock it so that we can put mod-specific top levels up before the players rush it. that's why we lock it.

we also plurk and discord when a post is open to be used. i don't know if duplicity does that, but posting a locked post that's either an ooc post or an event post to make sure everything's how it should be isn't an uncommon practice. tracking is a handy feature, but it's still on you to check the comms for things. and if you know the game does this, then it's doubly on you to make sure to check. you're complaining over an hour. if you only have an hour's worth of an attention span for how active you plan to be in a post or use it, then that's on you and not the mods.

a post like that should be up for days. if you're only running into it to 'first' on the page and throw up a top level, then you're not playing properly. it's people like you that perpetrate the whole 'it's been four hours the post is so old omg i'm on page 3 i can't play wah' mentality.

There's a lot of projecting here. This isn't anything about trying to rush the post or get on it first.

This is about being excited for a thing, checking at the scheduled time for the thing and but the thing isn't there. Then having to wonder what's going on, refreshing for an hour because you can't just wait for a notification of the thing because the mods have broken the notification system.

you'd have a fuck of a lot more ground to stand on if the timeframe of this wasn't just an hour. you sound super entitled.

it's a fucking hour. i don't know how many times this needs to be repeated to you, but if you literally cannot find anything else to do besides mindlessly tongue your f5 key for sixty minutes, you need to seriously reexamine your priority system.

like the other anon said, it's only an hour. a post is going to be up forever. i genuinely do not understand this level of entitlement over what you're owed as a player. the mods didn't 'break' the notification system. they're posting in a way that's beneficial to them as mods to make sure their post, you know, the one that you're pissing yourself over, is working and functional and set up. if you're actually sitting there for a full hour to the point you can count the minutes down to how long it was from 'when it was supposed to be up' to 'when it actually showed up after furious refreshing', you need to be doing other stuff in the game you're in. this isn't reserves/apps. there's no missing out on anything if it's not 'posted on time'. it's posted. you can still play in it.

what is your life that a whole hour is ruining your ability to play in a game? play in it tomorrow. not everyone tracks posts, anon. i'm serious. you're shitting yourself over 'wasting an hour'. maybe do your tags. or read a book. or do something that isn't hyperfixating on a post that will be there in an hour. or two. or eight. is it still there? is the post still there? are people still posting in it? or did you use up all the post and now the post is gone.

because you can stamp your feet all you want about how it's not about being first, but it sounds a hell of a lot like you want to be first. otherwise who gives a shit? go play or do something and look back later. the post is posted. the mods don't have to kiss your butt to post a brand new post just the way you like it. are there headers that are mod specific? then you don't get your notifications. go mod your own game with tracking posts.
