How do you guys feel about that State of the Game post by the mods?

the word going around my friend group is "naively optimistic". like their ideas are fine, but precedent is usually when a game gets this small, it's time to get on with it and start the road to end game. sticking to their current time frame doesn't feel feasible

on the other hand, removing all the work that goes into comment counting might make the game more inviting to newcomers.

The last game I knew that tried to do a long window for an endgame like that failed to keep up momentum and ended up rushing its endgame.

exactly. i just don't think precedent works in their favor here. i also sincerely wonder what left is there to really figure out about the story that actually matters? it feels all we discover any longer is bits of worldbuilding, which while nice, isn't going to sustain interest in the game.

they say the big thing is finding out why the founders split but like. we have a pretty strong idea why. if they want to show that vanderwheel's intentions were complicated, that's fine, but it's not going to take us another eight months to do that.

maybe tell the mods that? from the post i get the feeling they want to bring the game to a satisfying conclusion, so if a majority of the existing players say they're okay with a shorter endgame, i can't see any of them being opposed to shutting down earlier.

Advertising the game couldn’t hurt, especially if they go through with changing the AC to make it less tedious.

The issue I think is that DWRP isn't all that big and a good lot of them is done with their sudden need for an au game. The game has been around long enough that it's lost its shiny, and a lot of friends I know have already tried it and found it not working or burning them out, or the premise never interested them in the first place.

Just because the game is smaller than it was, this is still the largest game I've ever been in. I'm confident it can go all the way through to the endgame the mods want. With the pacing of the plot I don't see how we're close to endgame anyway, but if it's what the mods are thinking, then we can get there.

i'm still having fun. i intend to stay to the end and while i'm not sure the mods will stick to their plan since i've noticed they seem to react to anon comm complaints, i'd like to keep playing until then.

Have you seen the responses to the sotg? They aren't going to stick with their plan because even the oldest players are questioning the mods' plans being viable before either the drive of the remaining players or the mods fizzle out. If they adjust their plans, it's because the other players think it's some of their plans would be good in theory but less so in practice.

Also anon, name a time where they responded to something brought up on anoncomms that wasn't brought up by players in the game. Mods that aren't subtle they're responding to anoncomm complaints are not good mods.

if that's what you're reading from the sotg, more of us need to speak up, then. I want the mods to do what they want to do and I didn't comment because I think their plans are great.

not really, i laughed.

in before whiteknights defend this decision once again. don't tempt them out.

if the mods repeat the decision before endgame those white knights won't have a leg to stand on at least...

you'd think that, but the amount of bending over backwards this playerbase does to defend the stupid decisions of their mods is truly incredible. there's always an excuse for everything.

That's why they're still here, honestly. I left because when the game wasn't cliquey, the atmosphere of "if you struggle in the game you're just not dedicated enough to it" wasn't what I wanted in my pretendy fun times.
