Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

opinions on the latest world hop??

(Anonymous) 2018-12-01 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
the mods separated the characters into groups hoping it would encourage people to foster new CR, but most players seem to have had a hard time with this

a lot of players who were already in the game before the latest app round already knew exactly who they wanted to thread with and seem to have opted to not even play at all until the groups are reunited rather than work within the selection of characters theirs were put with

which is about as hard as the mods’ intention could have possibly backfired

i heard it was cliquey and unfriendly there but damn

As a new person I did manage to get some good threads in and I overall feel okay about the event and game.

I do think it went on a little long though, especially with there also being no network.

with the addendum that it's hard to blame that on the mods when some players put in zero effort to tag new people or get involved with the new setting. the amount of people i saw going "weh i can't tag my CR" for two weeks was astounding. that shouldn't be blamed on the mods, who tried something new and had a bunch of babies cry about it.

imo i really liked the group aspect of it, it made me tag new people and get out of my comfort zone. my only "complaint" was that if they use this mechanic again, to wait until a phase two so that new people can tag the entire game, not just 25-30% of it on their first big game log. but i like my new CR and i'm excited to build on it in the next phase of the event.

A lot of the new people in my group ended up dropping right away, which was pretty sad to watch. I'm not sure what the exact cause was, we'd have to ask them, but I can't imagine being sectioned off from most of the game helped them establish a comfortable starting point for themselves.

a lot of my cr dropped from the game lately and i'm struggling to find a reason to stay. everyone's cited a lot of really valid reasons on plurk wrt some of the things the mods are doing that people don't like.

deets?

i missed last app round and was thinking of trying again next time but if the game is going downhill then i wont bother

(Anonymous) 2018-12-01 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
i wouldn't say its going downhill though

it's a structure issue that i think works for some people and doesn't for others. the amount of time that was spent doing SOL stuff in between world hops felt really stagnated and made a lot of people bored or disinterested.

the hops themselves have great world building behind them but the way you get access to plot is done by asking the mods about what you want to do. sometimes you get little tidbits to work with and sometimes not. and then sometimes even when you do get something big it doesn't really affect the overall plot that much.

for example there was a big sickness plot where everyone in the temple (the game's home base) got ill. a bunch of people tried to find cures and got involved here and there but then the game's major npc just cured everything in the end.

there are some great points to the game though. the people here are friendly and easy to thread with. the actual plot itself is super creative and fun to play with. but i think this month killed it for a bunch of people who were forced into groups without access to much, if any of their current cr.

honestly the game could probably use a few more mods and some changes to how the story is done but if you're looking to join i wouldnt say that it's not worth it. my situation just sucks because i lost a bunch of people and it feels like starting over.

the mods did say on plurk they were taking on some helper mods so that's great. i think more people helping out will smooth over a lot of the smaller issues the game is having right now. that way the head mods can focus on the creative part (which they're really good at) and have people help out with the other stuff (which they're not horrible at but could definitely use a helping hand with)

this is a really good summary

(Anonymous) 2018-12-02 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
that's my problem too.

a lot of my cr left and i didn't click well with my group this month so getting ac + cr was hard. combined with me feeling bad for 'hogging' a spot while i'm in a rut, i want to bite the bullet and drop so more enthusiastic players can step in.

my interest sure is. and there's still practically a whole other month of this event left...

This one I think is a valid critique, the holidays really killed the momentum and interest, dragging it out for another month won't really help.

I’m still having fun but this event seems a little blah. Hoping it’s just the timing and it can recover. Especially since the mods do seem to care about the game. Please don’t die! :(

Not really, I think the holidays are quiet and we should see what improvements come from adding the helper mods.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-19 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
nah. plenty of people are active and excited to play, and the modteam has listened to the criticism and are implementing more mods and the changes suggested by the playerbase in the new year. i'm excited for 2019 and the new app round.

plus, every game is slow this time of year (nov/dec). even with the slow months the first event log got over 2,000 comments, though, and this one has over 1,000 even with the AC check-in.

yes. a lot of my cr is gone and the execution of the world jumps leave a lot to be desired.
