Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

more of: games where choices matter. I know El Nysa got a LOT of flack for this and I can think of a few more under the radar games where this is endemic, but there are some games out there that say characters can influence the plot and that your choices matter where in reality...they don't, and characters only serve as a way to move plot point A to plot point B.

less of: npcs. if your game requires 4+ npcs to help move the plot, then it's not going to work. with one exception, every game that I've seen that had enough npcs to fill a minivan ended up being a slightly bloated mess with dropped threads and everybody vying for npc attention.

he's pretty extra, but that's not really a speech pattern. he changes his form of personal address in japanese when he's not being super-extra, but it's just a change in formality and gentleness in tone.

there's no strange cadence or accent at play here, or even favored words. it's just super gothic-romantic, is all.

fwiw the flimsier tanks i've had have also been very low-level. someone who's level 23 doesn't have all their tools yet, and even a max-level healer might have trouble keeping them up if they start losing health too quickly.

this sounds like it could be an interesting concept but idk how well it would be executed. do you have a plan for that or plan to have co-mods to help you with it?

Less Of: survival horror. Not because I don't like it but because it's always done badly and/or players don't like to be wrong, hurt, lost, whatever.

More Of: genre-mashups. Scifi old west, magical girl, survival comedy, and high fantasy team sports. Also prison games, I miss those.

more small games. i'm another person who loved eachdraidh at its peak and the level of depth in mod involvement and how much players could really impact things was definitely the coolest part of it, but obviously that sort of thing just wasn't sustainable at that scale. i like the wide range of possible CR big games offer, but i know they just can't provide the kind of experience i really want. i wish more mods would cap their games at managable sizes and stick to their guns so we can get that kind of involvement again.

and less sci-fi and vague ~horror~ settings. i'm so sick and tired of seeing the same shit over and over again.

buttpains are fleeting things and we all get salty on the odd occasion

honestly i've got a couple of canon aus i'd like to see myself but i'd rather not invest them in a game that's gonna wither and die in the planning stages once you get bored of being spiteful. which, also lbr, you probably will in a week

if you'd just stated you wanted to make an au game out of genuine desire for an au game you could have gotten a lot more bites on this thread but no....now you better wait til a couple posts later to get the spite stigma off first. assuming you really even want to make a game in general by then

probably not without prodding the mods. we're a player capped game with fewer than 20 slots open per round on average, so we don't have a new tdm every app round unless the mods are asked to post a new one, which iirc is how we got the new one last time, anyway. that said, the old one can still be used, it just isn't getting many eyes unless you really throw your toplevel link around.

There was a sparkly dragon-girl on dear-mun that could throw glitter at people to make them sleep, and she could play with their dreams. Her post was incredibly adorable and funny.

I do have a plan as well as a co-mod to discuss things with, catch what I don't and divide the duties between us both. I'm also reading up on the advice given and taking a look at my outlay to see where it can be improved.

I appreciate all of the players who are still enthusiastic about the game and want to stick it out and play, despite the transitioning period and all the drops. Maybe now that the game is smaller, things will work out better, and the mods won't be trying to please a bunch of different people at once.

I still really love this game and my CR, and I'm glad to see a bunch of people are still having fun despite all the negativity and doomsaying, and I thought we needed some positive thoughts for once.

This sounds interesting, but I'm skeptical of how the AU characters would work in practice if they're meant to be a large part of the game. How are you envisioning the mechanics of that, anon?

I love this idea so far. I think I know which characters would I send into this.

Since Midnight Monsters Consolidated wants to make sure the multiverse has enough monsters, would the transformations the characters go through be permanent if/when they return to their worlds? Because if so, it has a lot of potential with characters now making use of their new monstrous bodies in formerly familiar homes and getting used to them.
