90% of the time I'm all involved in the plot of my game, but right now, there's an event going on my character couldn't care less about. It's really putting a damper on things since I have the choice of either playing him OOC to get involved or patiently wait things out until the next event comes.

i keep getting tags that are dry as sand and don't move the thread along at all in the direction it's supposed to be going. the thread is meant to have action, but they just ignore all my hooks and continue throwing out the most boring small talk. i give up, man.

tried to politely decline a thread offer from a friend bc they have a long history of flaking, but they insisted they wanted to do it and seemed motivated so i finally caved. (plus it was something i really wanted to play out myself.)

unsurprisingly i'm still waiting for their first tag days later.

people that won't tag out on memes. I fucking hate bakerstreet's habits of pages and pages of blank comments and no tags

you can only offer the "looking for a specific character/type of character" excuse so many times before you become part of the problem

i get it, it's a hell of a gamble tagging out, but suck it up and tag out some and make this hobby a little less shitty for everyone, no one wants to tag because...everyone knows no one wants to tag the under the cover problem of anxiety is just making this worse.

also don't give me the "but it takes so long to tag"

with respect that everyone has a different tagging process; if you take more than 20 mins to write a tag that is not of a more than 5 paragraph length, you may want to adjust your tagging process

"does this phrase sound good?" Yes. just post it

"I'm worried about my narrative," should have worried in the first five minutes, you've been working on this for 2 hours and can't turn back now

People will comment and say they enjoy the wait, but let me tell you folks, 99% of RPers will just appreciate a tag that helps the thread progress, perfection is a goal for divinity, not humans so just make an effort and put the tags out

you'll build so much more CR faster, get faster tagbacks in turn, and actually have some fun doing this.

I have never been able to wrap my head around this.

I'm also trying to trigger the lit majors that really will take issue with this, just go have fun. We do this for fun and we don't need to be critiqued with the severity that an author trying to get published needs.

I want to start trying to tag out more. It’s frustrating to be dropped all the time, but I need to try, at least. I am pretty good about it with most characters, but not the one I most like to play. I’ll do better.

You’re right, this is supposed to be fun. I need to stop worrying about whether people won’t want to play with me and just take a chance. Worst they can say is no, right? I need to drill that into my brain.

in addition to not being interested in the character or them not being interested in mine, the number one reason I don't tag out much is because I've already tried tagging these people before, some of them several times on many occasions, and gotten flaked on every time.

i wish i could be that person who magically attracts castmates to their game. i'm plenty active and my canon is relatively known, but i see people from obscure shit get magic castmates out of nowhere and i can't help but feel envious.

What's getting my goat right now is how no one can just say what they feel and would rather pump you full of fake platitudes just to keep you hanging on.

For example:
'You're the best X! I don't want to ever thread with another.'
But proceeds to tag other X's and never mine, making me always come to you instead.
'I'd rather just play with you'
Again, tags everything else but our threads and continuously brings up how good!!!!! our threads are but omg so exhausted to tag anymore. Which means just our threads while everything else gets tagged and talked about openly.

It's an exhaustive list that'd take too much time to go through. Just tell me you're not interested. Yeah it'll suck, but this keeping people by a pity thread is exhausting. Why do a lot of you do this? Is quantity more important? Do you want people to just want to tag you and keep others waiting in the wings if your 1st, 2nd, 3rd choices flake on you?

When the important castmate isn't a flake, but is so boring and almost aggressively uninvolved--even on the small scale they constantly brush off hooks, and the player seems immune to being plotted with--that it's still simpler to play as if they didn't exist.

Reflecting on a thread in which my friend’s character, a hot blooded and rash but well meaning and earnest type, said something casually kind of fucked up to my character (think “I get the feeling your friends would rather try to hide that they know you, is that why you’re jealous I’m hanging out with them too”) in an argument, with my character having recently met them and being a major antagonist in their canon but not having been any worse to their character than flippantly annoying by that point.

Realizing that was really weird for their character to say and wanting to ask the friend if they might unintentionally be doing the “I know your character’s bad news bears OOCly, so mine can treat them however they want and it’ll make sense because, OOCly, I know they have it coming” in case it needs to be nipped in the bud early but also not because we recently had an argument about something unrelated and I never want calling someone on it to look butthurt or “I’m going to tell you how to play your character, which is not being an asshole to my asshole character” even though I like the IC drama in and of itself.

feeling as though my usual ship partner prefers threading with their other ship partners than me and usually i'm cool with that, no one's supposed to be stuck with one partner for too long

but their other ship partners are better writers than me and i don't feel like im on their level, i guess? and i do want to tell my partner that i want to do more threads with our ship but i don't want to come off as clingy and desperate +_+

pettiest of petty gripes but i just found somebody lifting almost all of my tfln prompts wholesale two pages after my own toplevel like ?? three out of the four i had...

the only reason i noticed this was because i'd tweaked the wording in them to better match my character's diction, but they didn't even bother to change the order of the prompts or anything either lmao

idk ig it's pretty harmless anyway since the whole meme is just 90% copypasting stuff from a website as it is, but for some reason this still mildly bootybothers me in a completely unreasonable way

someone responded to a log tag i thought was dropped more than a month ago with an apology saying that they're sorry it took so long.

i'm more than happy to pick it back up, i adore this player and this log, but i always feel that saying something like "it's okay, take your time" is always license for them to just drop the thread. i wish i could express how important this is to me that i don't mind waiting, that i don't want them to feel pressured by me and i won't be upset if you take a while to get back to me, but also hoping you won't ONLY get back to me once a season.
