Lazy answer, but I love everyone I've threaded with so far! I'm still pretty new here and this is legit the most welcome I've felt in a game in a while

(Anonymous) 2018-08-18 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'm new this year too. The game is very friendly and welcoming. The plot is hard for newer players to get a grip on, but that's true of any long running game.

Has the game always been this slow? I'm one of a few newer players who I know of who have a hard time making AC. Even though the 4 threads thing helps, and so does the ability to use a thread started in a previous month, the fact that most events start later in the month doesn't. I see older players boomeranging established CR, but the same players don't usually tag newer players as quickly.

Ideas? Reliable taggers to recommend? It seems like AC is working out fine for most people, so suggesting changes to the mods doesn't seem right. The current event might be an attempt improve this situation, but the groups are so small that I don't know how it's going to go.

i've noticed the game's been a bit slower than usual in the last couple months. a lot of players have been having a rough summer, so that could have something to do with it?

as far as reliable taggers go, i've had great luck with our new peter parker, our connor/lance player, and our george/margaery/etc. player. our tucker/michael player is solid too but she's on hiatus for the rest of the month i think. law, caedra, and maeve are reliable, too.

there's also a lot of players that are reliable if a little slow for various reasons? that tends to be the running theme with hadriel. lots of medium/slow taggers, but they'll backtag into infinity. i know that's not comforting to some players who prefer a quicker pace though, so sorry if that's where you're at. the ones that come to mind are alphys/taako, delmar/whistler/semiyon, newt/harlan, and carlisle/nick.

sorry you've been having a rough time anon! i'm an older player, so the crit helps and i'll do my best to make sure i'm not an offender of the problems you mentioned in the future.

(Anonymous) 2018-08-18 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
I love your Carlisle/Nick player I wish they rped elsewhere. Don't have time for a game but I started stalking because I love Nick and quickly realized I didn't have time for a game. You've got some rest gems in game so I can imagine why it would suck if you're a new player hoping for opportunities for Cr and ongoing cr.

you could hit them up and see if they do psls anon! they've been pretty busy lately but they're around on plurk and answer pings, so it couldn't hurt!

I'm trying to pick up the pace again but I'm sadly one of those players who have been having a rough summer, so sorry if I'm one of the ones you're waiting on, anon!

Personally I think the smaller groups will help with AC, as it always seems to me that the larger the group is, the more likely the thread is going to be dropped, so I'm glad that I've got a smaller pool to play with this time.

Also +1 about the Carlisle/Nick player! She's such a sweetheart.

I joined near the start of this year and have loved every moment of it as well, except that I noticed a huge dropoff in posts starting in June. I was hoping it was just a fluke but now it seems that's been the normal amount of activity since then. I really hope things pick back up soon because while I still enjoy the game, it became slower-paced than I wanted really abruptly.

But the suggestions others made here are pretty good for finding people to tag, I think. I've had no problems making AC in any month. It helps to be proactive - make toplevels, make network posts, tag people's inboxes, and try to reach out and build lots of CR. I feel like it also helps to try and be social with other players on plurk or discord and I understand if that's not your thing, but staying in touch does help people stay interested in your character between threads.

(Anonymous) 2018-08-20 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
As a longtime player here, I noticed the dropoff in posts too and I think it might just have to do with the events. They've been very laid back (raising energy for the gods' help was even ICly voluntary) and that sort of thing just doesn't prompt the flurry of activity that more direct or threatening events do, so I'm hoping it'll pick back up soon.

(Anonymous) 2018-08-21 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
As a longtime player, I have noticed that there are times where we get spurts of activity (usually during events) and then periods of silence. For instance the start of august was really quiet, but I think things will pick up come the deserted event. It would be nice if there was more for characters to do in between events than just bumming around, so I've been trying to give ideas to some players on things their characters can start up. I hope they work out because I'd love to see more characters being proactive with the setting so people aren't just waiting for events to happen every month.

tbh i'm not sure why delmar/whistler/semiyon is on your list of reliable taggers. that player drops everything after a few tags unless you keep reminding them, which isn't very reliable.

everyone else seems fine, but i wouldn't recommend that player to newbies looking for solid cr.

looks to me like this boat plot is

dead in the water

seriously though it almost looks like people are more interested in the deserted stuff and planting trees than they are in all the boat stuff. only 8 tags on the event log as of right now.

(Anonymous) 2018-08-20 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
lololol

i'm not surprised tbh? the boat plot is gonna last longer than deserted, and deserted is gonna be the best event we had in a while imo. bummer about the boats though.

i think i'd be more tempted to go out on a boat quest if the supplies weren't so limited? since there's only a handful of fragments to collect iirc, i didn't want to claim any slots because i'm more personally interested in the deserted event. i see why the mods limited the supplies though.

half way through the deserted event and only three groups are making any sort of progress. do people just not like the groups they were rng'd into?

Re: HADRIEL

(Anonymous) 2018-08-26 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
My group is okay as far as who they are, they're just slow as hell. I think that's probably the problem for many of the groups, and since the groups are so small if even two people are slow or flaky it means you can't really get anywhere.

Re: HADRIEL

(Anonymous) 2018-08-26 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
This was my biggest concern with this being an rng event, ngl. I guess at the very least I can see which characters are active in other groups and try to get cr with them in the future?

I like the people I'm with just fine, although I think one of them might not ever tag in because they haven't responded plotting wise or into the actual thread itself. My group seems to be going very slow but steady. I think it might be we're all in different time zones, which already slows us down, and I know personally I only get to tags once a day.

Re: HADRIEL

(Anonymous) 2018-08-27 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
just a suggestion for those who are struggling with their groups: rather than playing out group threads, i would recommend maybe playing out individual threads with the group your character is stuck with. from personal experience i've found that anything over 3 characters rarely goes anywhere, especially when you don't know what kind of players you're stuck with and one of them might be prone to dropping threads anyway. want new cr? just tag the character with the more active player in a thread where they're not with a whole group.

Re: HADRIEL

(Anonymous) 2018-08-27 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
This is a good idea, but only if anyone else in your group is participating at all.

+1 to this, a successful four person thread requires everyone involved to be both active and communicative, and it looks like there's only one group really pulling that off so far.

if your (general you as in anyone struggling) group is at least communicative, you can figure out oocly how they would have found each other and then skip to individual threads with active players to actually get to the cr building. toss up specific starters for each groupmate that answers you, maybe? thread the whole group meeting slowly in backtags if people want, but the good stuff is usually going to happen one on one anyway.

good luck, anons! i'm hoping mine picks up too.
