i haven't been in the game for awhile so all of this discussion has me wondering a bit. is the game stuck between worlds? are all of the characters in the between-worlds area? or are you all still on the last one?

i fully agree that people have to learn how to make their own fun without mod hand-holding (and that dwrp is absolutely garbage at doing that), but i'm curious to see just how bad the game situation is from somebody in the game right now. anyone want to elaborate a little?

ayrt and lol sorry the playerbase got excited for the plot of the plot heavy world hopping adventure game that was advertised ig. because it's so easy and attractive to do sol stuff in the middle of a kidnapping, torture, and eviction setup.

you didn't address my "this has been months coming" point because i think you know that asking people to be patient for longer than that when they could be investing their energy in another game is unreasonable.

wanting a mod to feel responsible for keeping the game functioning when they aren't around isn't too much to ask for. you can feel bad for the mod's life issues and still think they have at best poor judgment of when they need backup, and it's been consistent enough that it doesn't look like it'll change soon. the call for helper mods didn't even include someone who could actually answer player questions, for crying out loud.

they had backup. the backup bailed. this was part of why delays happened, which in December would be, what, a few days? big fucking deal. the delays now are because of different shit and it's hard to find new backup when the people making offers are talking about dropping at the same time and you're still buried in shit.

look, you clearly admit the game isn't functioning well right now. people are not obligated to stick around for that. insulting the playerbase for concern probably does not make them want to stick around more either.

in seriousness, I'm tired of seeing people not taking the series of events into account. Yes, people can drop and feel bad and want to drop, and see people dropping and drop. yes, it's frustrating. it's also frustrating to know someone is going through hard times and then have people purposely going onto every platform they can to complain, because all that does is add more stress and problems to fix. mod is one person and has been stuck playing catch up for a while.

and if you think their priorities aren't in order because they're trying to get control over their real life circumstances instead of spending time making up reasons for you to smash your toy barbie against some other barbie..........lmao.

i think it's perfectly fine for them to have different priorities than "realize you have trouble with mod responsibilities and keeping commitments when stuff starts getting rough for you and make an effort to adjust accordingly." i also think that not having that approach is bad for maintaining a game, so i dropped.

i sincerely hope their health gets better.

How is it in the year of our lord 2018 the concept of "a single mod shouldn't be the only one with all the plot info" is hard to grasp? Every game should have more than one mod that has been prepared ahead of time to handle the plot. At the last game I modded at, there was a game bible that was kept in a google doc that we could all see so anyone could pick up and plot mod if one of the normal plot mods got KOed by RL.

You can have sympathy for someone's RL situation and still think a mod team has failed by not making sure more than one mod can do it. They're not mutually exclusive and it's a common enough problem that every mod team should be prepared for it.

if a player consistently can't make ac it's reasonable to question whether they should be in the game, regardless of the reason for their failure to do so. maybe irl is being rough on them, but if it interferes with their ability to play actively for more than a few months they probably shouldn't commit to a game.

the same standard is being applied to mods here: players are reasonably questioning whether the mod can sustain the game and, while sympathetic, are deciding to leave rather than wait to find out.

i joined because i was promised a game that had a plot. if all i wanted was sol, i could've joined about a half dozen other games instead of wasting my time expecting that we were actually, y'know, going to get what was advertised on the tin.
