This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Yeah, that is also true.

Though I wish there was more stuff like that in the non-crack plots. In my experience it's not that it's hard to have casual or cracky conversations with new CR. It's that it's tough to develop that casual/crack CR into strong CR where the characters actually care about each other when all the serious plots are geared towards characters that already care about each other. My character isn't going to be particularly invested in someone they've only had smalltalk conversations with...but getting more than smalltalk by just tagging open posts can be tough if your character isn't the type to open up emotionally with someone they bumped into on the street or who asked a question about favorite foods on the network.

Then again, it's possible that people would sign up and not play even in more serious events, and it's also possible that most people don't have trouble getting strong CR out of tagging random open posts, so it may just be that I'm not clicking here and not that this game is tough for new characters in general.

if you're used to more linear plotty games i can see how you'd have trouble here. truth is a lot of players are much more invested in their smaller personal plots than they are in mod plots. if you want to improve your cr it's better to get in on those than to focus on mod plots.

obviously that's easier to do if you have friends in game which is why it can seem kind of cliquey, but even if you don't have friends you can still get involved, it's just kind of a different process than it is in games where getting in on the mod plot is the most important thing. some tips:

1. don't live on the network, make and tag open logs. the network is good for some things but tagging only the network is usually going to result in a very shallow cr base. people have their characters get a lot more personal in logs.

2. be active oocly. most importantly, read people's posts on the cr meme and offer your character if you think they could work for a plot they want to play. the fastest way to build cr and get away from smalltalk is to ask for a closed log with a specific setup. ask for what you want to play, don't just tag opens and hope it happens naturally. tagging opens is a great way to start CR, but asking for specific threads will take it to the next level much quicker than just waiting for that player to post another open.

3. if possible, make your own plots. not all characters are the proactive sort but it will get you some easy attention.

of these i'd say 2 is the most important. if you're the type of player who prefers to build things naturally and dislikes plotting and asking for threads oocly...tbh this game will probably be hard to get into just becase of how much people prioritize their own personal plots.
