I think the problem here starts when someone is aping into a popular cast or huge cast, or when they already know someone in game. When you app it’s much easier to get involved with characters your character knows, with the cast from a world your character is from, or you get sucked into CR that castmates already have, or it’s easier to get involved with character who are played by friends (and their CR).

When these players enter the game, they develop relations with those specific characters VERY fast with characters getting to know each other's darkest secrets VERY FAST, and players end up focusing solely on that, and they end up closing themselves off even if not on purpose. They give all their energy, imagination and free time to rp with these characters they already know, or their castmates know, and the player doesn’t have enough time/imagination/energy/attention to anyone who is not involved in it. This also means that they don’t have energy to pursue any other kind of CR on their own, because they are already giving their energy to a pre-set CR.

This makes them cliquey, closed-off, but I don’t think they do it on purpose. I think they just don’t have energy for anything else, and they don’t have enough interest to look for something else because it’s much easier to focus on what you are given from the get go. And after a while, it just becomes awkward. A character has been there for 6 months, and during that they don’t try to relate to anyone else in the game, so when the player remembers to get some new cr, it actually gets difficult for them because they’ve been ignoring everyone else and the things happening to everyone else, and how do you get around that?


The good part is that there are a lot of lone canon warriors and there are about 300 characters in game, so you’ll always find someone who wants to tag you and build meaningful cr instead of being brushed off or given a crappy unimaginative tag in response. Just ignore the people that ignore you.
