Thinking about joining this and I have some questions!

1. I heard this is a good game for villains, is that true?

2. What would you say is the balance between plot and SoL? I'm not really into SoL and the events this month seem pretty SoL-ish (the beach mingle and the fake con), but is it just a quiet month/is there plotty stuff going on in the background?

1. MoM is pretty villain-friendly, in the sense you have a lot of freedom to run plots and/or find heroic types to duke it out with yours. But it may help you suss out if it's a good fit if you can be more specific about what kind of villain you're thinking of bringing in. There's a whole spectrum between 'steals shit sometimes for fun' to 'big assholes' to 'plotted the end of a galaxy once, maybe.' I do find it's a game where IC actions = IC consequences, so if you're thinking of running big flashy villain plots you should also be up to getting your villain taken down.

2. MoM tends to have a bunch of stuff at any time that's both SoL and plotty for your to involve with at your leisure. Check out the plotting tag -- people are bad about tagging their posts properly, but at a glance you can see there's both SoL-y and more involved/action-oriented plots going. http://maskormenaceooc.dreamwidth.org/tag/-plotting

i'm not really into SoL either, and i've found that for engaging in more action-y/plotty events, you need to be proactive. it's absolutely a great game because a ton of people are interested in engaging with the metaplot, but the bottom line is that you have to either create more plot-driven opportunities or link up with the other players who will be planning them

the mods have been moving away from the politically based plot recently as far as intl stuff goes, so if that's the aspect that's attracting you, it's no longer as prominent as it once was! overall it's still a great game with a fun cast, tho

ex-MoM villain player here. I had great fun and there's always the scope to stick your oar in somewhere. That being said, keep in mind you'll be in a city of superheroes and if you do terrible villain things there are a few hundred good guys with powers ready to jump in.
