some of these are western researches looking from the outside, looking at first hand resources. most are based on actual queer voices from the inside. maybe stop assuming japanese queer people don't care about representation and actually study how it's different. listen to our stories, our voices. because right now, you and a lot of other anons are speaking for us, erroneously, and that's not okay if you're taking up this facade of giving a shit about sociopolitics in japan.

They're mad because Japan and the West's approach to LGBT lives and acceptance isn't the fucking same and people are trotting around in this thread with their hands clasped together and staring up at the heavens like "Oh, everything would be better for the gays in Japan if they just had more gays in media! That's what they really need! Everywhere really just wants to follow the American LGBT movements and political agenda to the letter and cultural history is only important when I say so! because someone got mad when told that pressure for representation in japan from the fujoshi part of the fanbase and lgbt activists is probably not high enough for atlus to add gay romance to their niche games, because japanese game companies like atlus tend to listen much more closely to japanese input than western input

no one was even saying wanting more representation is bad or undesirable, just that there are cultural differences in priorities that are part of the reason why it hasn't happened and is probably unlikely to happen even if western fans ask for it
