I'd switch B99 and Kimmy just because I don't get how a show about cops isn't on the lawful spectrum. /too earnest

1) I learned sign for the year that I was deaf without the implant. my family (primarily my mom and sometimes my dad) uses sign around the house for when I don't have my implant on. learning sign has been something I've been interested in and i actually took some ASL classes in my college years- I've learned enough to hold basic conversations.

2) I unfortunately don't have any deaf friends. :( Most people I met during my ASL classes that were deaf were teachers or hearing ASL students. Almost ironically, I was part of a student organization during college and I actually met a HoH student who held the same position as me in another school! He doesn't really like to be called deaf or HoH though but we shared similar struggles.

I still hope that maybe one day I'll meet a deaf gamer like me and we can hang out.

3) If I'm at the movies I don't ask for captions but if I'm watching movies at home on dvd/hulu/netflix/etc. I almost always put on captions. I don't always like asking for captions because of the kind of stigma/annoyance that hearing folk get.

Although nowadays I've heard movie theaters have special glasses that do the subtitles and don't put them on the screen. That is super cool except I wear glasses because of my poor eyesight so that might interfere with the cool subtitle glasses. Still, cool technology.

No way is Kimmy Schmidt lawful.

So who actually plays a Warcraft character on DW and how can I make you app into my game.

I'm looking for a game that has the following (I am flexible however!):

-manageable ac
-backtag friendly
-no smut
-over arching plot
-fine with AU settings!
-fine with horror elements, sci-fi, fantasy, historic... basically any genre
-slow to medium pace
-community based

Anon, did you get into Animorphs as a kid? I think some part of the whole 'turning into an animal and fighting to control the based instincts' really got to me when I was younger. I share a lot of your interests so I'm curious.

i do, but you couldn't pay me to app into a game, tbh. both due to shitty lore and a few shitty people in the fandom who ruin it for everyone else.

i do, but there's no way you'll get me to app into your game or any other. whether i'm playing a lore character or one of my OCs I stick to PSLs and I prefer it that way.

Personally, I don't get why most games actually give squatters an easy way to scramble for activity and allow strikes to be removed so easily. Why not instead of giving strikes give rewards to more active players to prevent removal if they had a bad month? That seems like a better solution overall that would give the exceptions to the players that deserve them.

i don't know. i know that a lot of the reasons that strikes got put into place was because of people having mental health/physical health/life problems that were legit and would talk to a mod about 'this unpredictable shit happened, could i get a pass'. and you know what? in a lot of cases, that's cool. your family's health/your health/a death in the family/your job getting fucked/becoming homeless, those are all things that i get having problems with and needing a pass on.

but i've seen this with my own eyes as a past mod, and a lot of the excuses are 'i had a bad mental health month', or something similar, and those 'bad months' pile up into bad years and i just wish that mods (and i'm talking to past mod me) would be willing or capable of saying 'Hey, I get that things aren't all that great for you right now and I'm sorry for that, but maybe instead of asking for passes three months in a row and you not being sure that's going to change, maybe you stop and think if rp in a game that requires consistent activity is a thing you should be that concerned about right now.'

i wish more people would just be honest with themselves and drop instead of lingering on because of whatever reasons, and i wish mods would just say 'sorry, but more than one month of strikes is just not okay. maybe look at another game or just doing memes/psls'.

Problem is a person who says this gets ripped apart because how dare you say they shouldn't be allowed to play in a game even when they obviously don't have the time and it would be better for them to focus on RL. In an ideal world an AC wouldn't be needed because players would drop when needed and not need a mod to remove their character.

But yeah, I think a better idea would be instead of strikes to earn a reward that allows you to stay despite a bad month. Having a strike system just lets squatters have more of a chance to keep squatting, but having a reward would give the exceptions to the people who do deserve them and have proven that they can be an active part in the game.

Lost Carnival?

- AC is 10 comments, extra activity can be used to buy rewards
- backtag friendly
- smut is allowed, but certainly not the focus
- over-arching plot
- world-hopping game that takes characters to a variety of different locations; characters come from a ton of different backgrounds and settings
- not really sure how to define the pace, but i'm pretty easily overwhelmed by games and i don't have any trouble keeping up here
- community based

we have a SU cast (Steven, Greg, Amethyst, Peridot, Lapis) and a couple characters from Transformers Prime, but any of your characters would be welcome and fit in really well here, i think!

They're in "March", anon, but they are not in the 3rd month of the year. That's the point. They are in the twelfth month of the year right now, so 3/14 is not occurring at this time. The characters celebrate Valentine's, yes, but not during the second month of Emp's calendar year.

I don't think it's worth getting into a snit over, personally, because I don't think half the characters even know ICly that the new year is marked at a different time. I've seen plenty of people mark New Year's ICly on January 1st and we've celebrated the Lunar New Year before, too. But if you want to be technical about it, by Emp's calendar, OP is right. 3/14 is not until June.

the calendar in the game is a few months off from the "real world" calendar but people in this game are collectively some of the dumbest i've ever seen and post non-stop about holidays and birthdays regardless.

at this point the mods either need to address it or just change the calendar system so that the dates match because it's just so goddamn embarrassing to watch.

like i said, i don't agree with the parallel either. but it's been the calendar characters are going with for a while now, so what i'm saying here is that pi day isn't the problem but whoever started this is.

i personally like their love holiday and new year being around april but i think you're going to get people who want to celebrate real world traditions and know our calendar by the exact month and day in any game

couple quick questions.

1) what would you consider a good type of pitch for enabling folks into canons?

2) besides dw, are there any other fandom rp sites out there that aren't tumblr? i may go there as a last resort, but only then. do not want shaming, thanks.

It's really not as bad as all that, anon. The new year is in a different spot, but the seasons do match the real world pretty closely, and Emp's equivalent of February also has 28 days. I saw one of the mods mention that as a way to figure out when birthdays are recently.

Pretty much the only true difference is that the months have different names and so do the days of the week.
