I wouldn't say I was aware it was a kink until I started getting a sense of what kinds of things were kinks/fetishes/etc, but it was a fixation for me from the point that I first became aware of sex. I can't explain its origin. I had a very sheltered upbringing, disregarding that I persisted to undermine it whenever I could.

Small game built on the Simoun universe, minus the gender fountain thing.

All vague right now, but I'm thinking PC's get pulled in to either fight in pairs or do other tasks in a floating fortress to fight for the fate of the multiverse. There would be missions to the ground, times when the fortress is docked for repairs or maintenance, etc. The land/sea/nature itself would be a nebulous entity unto itself in that player interaction could cause temporary or permanent changes. Events could be drawn from existing canons for different "flavors" as well as game setting specific.

The stronger the CR, the more effective the battle pairs (it would be more based on trust than positive/negative CR). I'm still working out how to quantify that without punishing slower taggers who still develop strong CR, and without leaving out characters who don't go into battle on Simouns.

By "small" I mean 20-30 characters.

2. idk when i really became aware that it was a fetish. like some of the other anons mentioned, as a child i would become really fascinated by scenes of things on tv or in movies--if there was a scene with a character scuba diving i was torn between being utterly fascinated and looking away in shame because i knew there was something "bad" about the way i was viewing those scenes. if i was watching with other people i would get even more anxious fearing that they'd be able to sense my unhealthy interest in the subject matter. once when i was maybe 6 or 7 i drew some pictures of scuba fetish/humiliation stuff, and it gave me a weird tingly feeling. i immediately tore the drawings up and threw them away because i knew i would get in trouble if my parents saw them.

3. not open at all. you guys are the only people i've told. i have some profiles on sites like fetlife where there are small communities of other people with the same fetish, but it's hard to find a lot of really active discussion about it, ime

4. my sister is into bondage/bdsm, and i only know because she and her partner used to be really open about it, would leave paddles and shit around their apartment, etc. she was also into it from a young age and as a little kid she liked playing games at school where she got tied up with jumpropes, stuff like that. i learned this by reading her diary. serves me right lol

5. probs the weirdest or most extreme thing i've done is just buying stuff to indulge in it. scuba gear is really expensive. a few years back i dropped 70-80 bucks on a wetsuit, another 100 on a BCD - which is still cheap because typically those things go for about twice that. the BCD i got used off of ebay and it's one of my favorite pieces of gear, really comfortable to wear even when i'm not trying to get off. there's something soothing about putting it on that i can't really explain. also i've tried sleeping in some of my gear with mixed success.

Labels for each character and game, naturally, although I rarely have more than one or two anyway.

I don't like using unread status, both because the little (1) bothers me too, and because I'm always excited to see my incoming tags ASAP and I don't want to be bothered with manually marking them unread again until I can reply. Instead, I use gmail's stars. Actually I have it set up so that double-clicking the empty star makes a little checkmark for my answered tags. It's fast and nearly effortless!

A fringe benefit is that you can filter search your inbox by which specific star things have. I've tried using another symbol to mark things as "come back to this later" although it ended up rarely getting used.

Hey there rpanons!

I've been mulling over some ideas and I'm thinking I'd like to try my hand at running a short-term game one of these days. I have a couple of concepts I'm interested in running with, but before I start hammering them out into anything definite, I'd like to poll you guys about a couple of things.

1. Theme: Murder seems to be the prevailing theme, with a divide between mafia and murder mystery. Mafia-style seems to be the easiest to run (especially for a short-term game newbie), from where I'm standing, but what kind of game is more fun to play in? Or are we over-saturated with murder games - would an adventure/action/exploration game work in this format?
2. Timeframe: How long is too long and how short is too short? Somewhere in the ballpark of 8-12 weeks seems to be the average from my observations, but I want to make sure it's long enough to make a satisfying experience but not so long that interest wanes.
3. Timing: The games I've observed have more low-key things going on during the week and then an explosion of stuff over the weekend. What days would work best for the big gatherings that people would need to be around for? What times of day?
4. Character/cast cap: By necessity this kind of game would have a lower cap than a long-term game. Somewhere between 30-40 seems a decent amount to start with, edging on the higher end for murder-style games where there will be a high bodycount. Within the character cap, what would your ideal cast cap be? Make everyone LCWs? Two from the same canon? Three?

The three concepts I'm playing around with most right now are steampunk mysteries, fractured fairy tales, and something with a lot of inspiration taken from Fatal Frame, but first and foremost I want to make sure I'm putting something together that will be enjoyable for the people playing there rather than just doing whatever I feel like doing, so any insights you guys have would be great.

1. I sort of view bondage as my deep-seated "core" fetish, and then I'm also into a lot of degradation/humiliation stuff that feels more like an extension of that.

2. As with many of the above anons, I had a fixation on the bondage part from a very early age, and it was definitely sexual in retrospect even though at the time I didn't know that. When I was in first grade, one morning I randomly caught a clip from some horror movie where someone was tied up, and it stuck with me so hard I ended up getting the schoolbus that day to stop because I thought I had to pee. I did not have to pee.

3. Personally I'm very open about it, although it's not like I seek people out to sit them down and describe my fetishes in detail. Usually if those kinds of subjects come up, it's as a joke. Still, while some of the extreme stuff I've fantasized about would be hard to talk about, I don't think an interest in bondage is a big deal these days, and I guess I'd rather contribute to that perception.

4. Sex stuff doesn't... come up often when talking to family members, and I haven't asked. I probably have alluded to my interests once or twice (again, as joking) and I don't recall anyone else doing the same. I don't wanna know.

2. when i was younger i would get these weird... feelings whenever i'd be watching tv and would see a scene with a character getting tied up and gagged (most often april from ninja turtles, daphne from scooby doo, penny from inspector gadget etc.). ofc i had no idea that it was sexual in nature until i was in my upper teens. and like scubanon said, there was definitely an element of shame because i had no idea why i was fixating on these scenes and didn't feel comfortable asking someone about it.

4. not that i'm aware of. my family doesn't discuss sex much, which is part of why it took me so long to figure out what was going on.

I can definitely vouch for Papyrus, Lars, and Strange. They're all really fun to play with and their players are great. But yeah I don't know of anyone who seems closed off to new players.
