your browsing and purchasing history is really just scratching the surface, anon. what they're selling is your demographic profile: your approximate age, approximately where you live, what your career is, what you studied in school (if anything) and what your highest degree is, gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation, whether or not there are young children or older adults or pets in your household, etc etc

like, if you're good with the perspective of "nothing on the internet is private" and plan accordingly that's cool (and a good attitude imo), but a lot of people don't fully understand how deep this stuff goes.

pretty much everyone is really good about tagging their plurks for whatever they're about so it's easy to pick the shit you wanna read and skip the shit you don't

I'd agree with the above anon. Activity is medium high because it's a larger game, and popular event logs often hit captcha. Speed is medium slow (AC is easy and rewards backtagging, plus the game is 3:1, which means slower tags can still finish threads in an ICly timely manner.) In my experience it averages one tag per thread per day or two, with enough of a spread between some slow taggers and some fast and reliable ones that it shouldn't be hard to find CR that matches your tag speed preferences.

You people are absolutely ridiculous with how much you think the gubbermint cares about you. The NSA most definitely doesn't care about your roleplay habits, tumblr discourse or boring porn searches. They most definitely have you deemed "fat and unimportant".

PLEASE MAKE THIS GAME. I'd love it so much. Seems like it would also allow for both morally bad characters and politically inclined characters to thrive, and PvE jamjar-centric DWRP is pretty lacking in places for those types at the moment.

I do have some suggestions regarding timing. I think a lot of AU games die out because they're either not advertised enough at first, or the various plotting posts and test drives are spaced too close or too far apart.

I'd advertise here and on plurk when the game info is written but before anything is open. Then, once some interest is drummed up, put up an AU/OC brainstorming meme. After a week or so, put up a test drive.

Putting up a test drive and a brainstorming meme at the same time can kind of kill the momentum of the test drive as people won't have had a chance to work out their characters first. However, leaving the test drive for 2+ weeks means that some of the excitement will have dropped off. Also, because I've seen a few failed OC/AU games do this...don't put up the brainstorming post and the test drive meme up more than a month before apps actually open. I know it seems like a good idea for a game where most people will be writing apps from scratch and working out character details, but there will be a drop-off in interest if players have nothing but a test drive for two months. Something like "memes near the start of the month, apps at the end" gives plenty of writing time without people getting bored of waiting.

It's not even just about the government. In fact they are the ones I'm the least concerned about. It's the other third parties that buy and sell information and not all of them are legit. It can lead to increased spam, scam calls, and depending on what is out there and sold even potentially identity theft. That shit is enough of a problem now without the government giving another route to obtain people's information.
