non-baity answer: hero mode has been a thing in previous zelda games and some people are interested in having it back

They're only one-shot kill hits if you have no extra hearts, don't bother cooking food, don't stay at inns, only use your starter armor, never figure out how to block/counterattack/etc, and never try to upgrade your gear. All of which you've established you don't want to do because "past Zelda games never made me do that wah" even though this game was advertised originally as "look at all the neat extra stuff you can do!" So beyond the fact that you're basically just trying to go through this game on hard mode by not doing anything to help build your character up, you seem to be complaining that there is SO MUCH EXTRA CONTENT that you can't be bothered to explore - which is one of the game's key features.

This is a $60USD game. You bought a fucking expensive brand new game and you don't even want to play it to its fullest potential? What the fuck is wrong with you?

after apprentice wanted faded away, im happy to see a spiritual successor. oglaf is such a great setting for raunchy shenanigans.

If you're really eager to take them into a game you could always use a placeholder PB and then swap in the drawn icons when you manage to get them going.

probably because at some point you're no longer writing the character as they were in canon, but a game-affected CRAU type character.

not necessarily bad, but playing one character for a year or more will do that, and it's not appealing to everyone.

yes. i stopped rping for a while. when i came back it was under a new handle and with a new plurk

mostly because it had been long enough that i didn't feel connected to the people i left behind before. i didn't want to be bogged down by things i used to like or old memories, and i didn't want to force myself in to rekindling old as fuck friendships that neither side bothered to keep up. it's just a thing that happens. they moved on from me, and i moved on from them. i had grown out of the person they knew because i'd had a long break, found completely new interests, and even started writing differently

i also did it because before i left, i had a fall out with a friend who was really pissed that i didn't want to rp anymore. i wanted to be able to do my thing without them dogging after me once they realized i was back

i didn't keep my old identity under lock and key or anything. i did end up running in to a few people i used to play with and we grew close again. and because i sometimes openly discussed the handle i used and the characters i played before i left, the drama-friend ended up finding me eventually. she had a meltdown over me being back like i predicted, but it didn't stick. if she'd caught me before i established myself again she may have done more damage, but she didn't. so whatever

i've been back for a while and i'm very happy. i really needed the fresh start

Just finished the game! I'm very game for Noctis/Prompto with slowburn. Could do dark aus off the canon point from chapter 13 or a different take on World of Ruin?

Slow to medium depending on what's going on, I'd say. The game runs on 2 rl days to 1 in-game day, which means events/locations aren't over super fast. We have a range of tag speeds, too, and slower taggers do just as well as anyone else here.

Admittedly I'm bitter because there's a difference between writing in a power and using a power to negate a conflict before it can be explored, and that's what I feel has happened to me. I didn't argue about it but it's strange that anons think that powers only come into play during literal pvp fight scenes.

it's not only a matter of booting the people i used to know. it was more that i was literally completely different from how i used to be. i didn't like the same things, i didn't write the same, none of us had talked to each other in years. i wasn't interested in being bogged down by a bunch of memories that weren't relevant anymore, and like i said, i didn't feel like being hovered over by the grudgey friend. it was time for a handle change also. the one i went by was dumb and was made back when i was a kid. it didn't fit anymore either

if you want to purge your friends list every few months that's fine? i trim my own back too sometimes. but there was no need for me to come back and make a spectacle out of gutting my entire timeline back then. because i'm serious when i said i started completely fresh. and it was exactly what i needed

doing it right now. left it really casual and picked a handle related to my usual one, so any of my friends would know it's me and i won't get whining about possibly being a wanky sock. it hasn't really helped my drive per se, but it's nice not to have the obligation to log onto plurk to see what other people are saying in order to plot things out with them. they either hit the plotting memes or we don't make plans, which is fine imo. i've had to be more proactive, but this is the kind of character where i feel more comfortable where i'm the one reaching out anyway.

all in all i'd say it's pretty good.

why would you play a zelda game and not do any sidequests

exploring the world and finding new shit hidden in it is at least half the damn point of the game
