I usually write characters that are anything but fitting for cute outing or date plots, but recently I've picked up a character that is decidedly nicer than the others and my absolutely fantastic longtime RP-partner wants to do some cute, romantic PSL with me that's free of our usual twists and small (or big) conflicts. I really love playing with them, but I keep feeling as if I'm doing something decidedly wrong as the story just meanders along without really getting anywhere past the characters being cute together and doing silly cute things. I've tried getting some experience doing cute memes on bakerstreet with different players and CR types, but it still feels as if I'm not doing it right.

Are there any tips or tricks to writing enjoyable cute tags past communicate with each other (we're already doing that)? Please help a villain and jerks-with-hearts-of-rust player out!

i'd say just tag. unless it's like three months ago nobody's going to think it's weird. they might not reply but nobody's going to judge you.

we went from the gods being largely ignorable background npcs who did fuck-all to them being a major presence that you're not going to be able to ignore.

if you didn't like the god plot i wouldn't come back anytime soon. you're going to be involved in it whether you want to be or not.

depends on the character. if it was some sort of modern ya protag then I'd use a PB, but I play from a lot of period literature and sometimes it's just so damn hard to find icons of the right character in period attire. I'd use fanart if the character wasn't a modern day normal human.

my master's thesis was about comic books. it was a bit less fandom and a bit more 'straight english thesis' but it did involve me explaining to my professor just why there were multiple Spider-Men so that was a fun plus.

this is one of my favorite series ever! like it has it's problems like any sort of series, but royce and hadrian, the main characters, are what would happen if you put a people-loving, gentle-natured (but still dangerous) dog and a skittish, tsundere cat together and sent them on an adventure.

the only people I know who have read it are my friends and like, nobody plays from it...

yeah, sorry but stuff that's just pure lovey dovey stuff gets boring real fast 9 times outta 10. for me, i gotta think of some sort of twist or a point to make it interesting. like, a and b are on a date... is not solid enough a concept for me to give a shit. what would make them being on a date worthwhile? here's an assortment of ideas i've played out before:

*a is of a much higher social standing than b and insists on spoiling them rotten, while b is more uncomfortable with it than anything
*a is extremely publicly affectionate, while b is more private, but has a hard time telling them off
*a is so desperate to impress b with the most meticulously planned date ever that they run themselved ragged, and no fun is actually had until b sits them down and gets them to chill
*a has a fear of ghosts? make them go in the haunted house! b is insecure about their appearance? make them go clothes shopping! deliberately pick stuff that'd bring out different sides of the characters to light.

or, you could have outside interferences too. they briefly run into a family member and they're not official yet. a truck passes by and splashes mid all over a's specially picked outfit. the rollercoaster gets stuck in midair. anything! but yeah, giggling and holding hands will only get you so far, i've found.

You seem to be under the impression that anyone actually cares about a Master's thesis. The only people who are going to read it are going to be the chair of your thesis committee and however many other people need to sit on your thesis committee, so probably a total of 3 people. Maybe more if you hand it out to your friends who won't read it because ~45 pages for firsthand research and ~70+ for secondhand research is boring.

Sometimes, people get stuck doing a thesis they have no interest in because their department is small, or their interest is just too niche even if it's still important. As the former is my case, yeah, I'm gonna be padding the hell out of that paper because I have absolutely 0 investment in the paper, its research or anything else about it.

I'm going to half ass my thesis and turn it in and get my degree and be done with grad school. I have the ability to write academic papers and I have before, but no I'm not going to spend time and energy on something literally no one cares about. The only people who should even be concerned about their master's thesis are people who are definitely going to move on and get a PhD at some point.

And no, I'm not going to "see the error of my ways" or "regret half assing my thesis" because I've had these professors the four years of my undergrad and will have them until I'm done with grad school. I'm not going to be blindsided by suddenly harsh grading. They're the type of professors who grade all of your work as if it's going to be published anyway and getting As is notoriously difficult. Only 1/8 of our tiny department has ever gotten straight As from these professors each year. Guess what. It's me, the person who half asses their work while everyone else flails around worrying about how to please their professors and parroting their ideas instead of using their own brain.

I'm glad OP has the chance to write about something they have an interest in, because that's so rare in my experience and in my department in general. Writing about something you care about is great motivation.

issues with trace aside, is it worth it to app here? what is the atmosphere like among the actual playerbase? is the game enjoyable?

a friendly PM is your best bet! i've never been turned down when approaching people this way. you might make mention somewhere on your own plurk that you're returning to RP or relatively new to plurk/DW and that way everyone will know where you're at or coming from as you form a new network of RP buddies

I did the same thing for a Japanese subculture class, though I was studying in Japan at the time so I ended up doing more field research compared to just finding online / print sources.

Did you just do it on overall idol culture or did you focus on a different area? I'm pretty curious since my paper and research focused more on otaku and marketing / spending habits and shaping the "moe" market via idol themed anime / games.
