I'm at this point right now. Someone replied to my anon ad for a scenario and I've been having so much damn fun, and I'm hoping they are too. We're still under 50 comments so I'm going to wait until we're a little more settled storywise to thank them for being so great, but I definitely intend to give them thanks/praise eventually.

What is the craziest RL thing you've done or heard of someone doing for RP?

I was just reminded of the time back in the day I read of an anon who claimed to have taken a day off work just so they could be at home when apps opened up for a game with limited slots.

Just found out someone I've been planning a PSL with is (or was?) a wanker. Was curious, searched up their name on wankgate, and lo and behold, there they were. They've done some pretty skeevy things - especially irt to past PSLs like we've been planning to do. The last wank on them was in 2014 though with nothing else ever brought up and they don't seem bad to me (despite the stuff I read being... just that) so I'm wanting to give it a try.

This game would be a labor of love for sure. I might not even wind up playing more than NPCs long term, but I'm prepared to write basic rundowns of everything from auspices to supposedly extinct vampire sects, tribes and their aspects, everything. I love old WoD and I'm willing to work for it.

2017 was three years ago, anon. three years is forever and most people will change and mature a lot within that kind of period of time. if they haven't had any significant mentions since and they've been reasonable to you thus far, I'd say give them the benefit of the doubt.

Former mod that just about had an app finished up (an adult character, by the way) and was planning to reserve and now I'm not because this is a mess.

It's very easy to incorporate teens into a serious horror setting if the npcs are treated as terrible for putting them in danger. It's also very easy to spare the reasonable adults in the game from having to act like child endangerment is okay by making the npcs force it, and making it clear the characters are free to be mad at the npcs for being that cold and calculating that they'd use teens that way.

There's also a lot you can do with just suitability across the board that people could probably get behind, since anyone that isn't suitable for missions could potentially train to be, and general suitability is a much more realistic measure of who can handle things that an arbitrary age limit.

The mods here have weird nonlogic and are uncreative if they they can't work it out in a way that's reasonable for everyone. Someone else pointed out that kids being used as child soldiers is pretty damn realistic, given how the real world is, and it doesn't sound like anyone thinks it's realistic for PCs to be okay with it. It sounds more like they think it could be plenty realistic for the npcs to just be bastards about it since the mods can make them ruthless enough to do it.

This is just a very mishandled situation and somewhat misguided if they think "realism" is their desperate space army in a horror/sci fi setting wrapping teens in cotton.

Depends on the deets honestly. Did they have pastebins or screencaps included or was it just anons saying this person did X? If it's the latter, definitely take it with a grain of salt. If it's the former, compare the pastebins to what you've seen of the person. Does it look like they still act that way or does it look like they may have changed?

Maybe try asking them about it and get their side of the story. Remember that wankgate often is just one side of the story and it could have been the other side that was the issue, not this person.

Sounds like you want to give it a shot and I think you should. 3 years is a long time and most people change in some way. If it's been that long since they last were namedropped, they probably aren't one of the really bad wankers and may well have learned from the experience.
