the whole point is the mods wanted a game with only live action adults but were too cowardly to restrict the game at the start to live action adults or even to just adults

they're throwing these restrictions out there now to push out the characters they don't want around into dropping by making it effectively impossible for them to do anything other than boring sol in a game that was not marketed as sol

the adult sol anime characters are an afterthought and will probably be quietly frozen out of being able to do anything other than sol too

Having read the thread I think that the memory loss mechanic would make what you're proposing more complicate and cumbersome than need be. Your OC and AU would probably be more straight forward.

I think the difference is that AU and OC would attract a smaller playerbase, whereas mem-loss might get more people. (Basically compare the above games mentioned to Undergrounds.)

I'm also going to point out that one of the reasons why Recolle exploded is probably because all you literally need to write an AU is what basic 21st century America is like. Compare that to Overjoyed, which is kind of similar mechanically. It's still solid but that's partially because the mods hauled a shit ton of ass on the AU memes to help people write AUs, and it didn't explode like Recolle did.

Anyway, if you go through with this, be prepared for hauling some ass to explain mechanics for people who aren't up on WoD but might be interested.

That is absolutely not the same thing. Keeping a game from getting too inundated with one canon is one thing, especially since fad canons tend to be ones that are apped to hell and back. This is saying for entire canons and sets of characters "um actually no we don't want you in here," and given the point up-thread about how it seems like they just wanted to prop up the game with under-18 characters?

It's a dick move. It's not surprising that people would be hesitant to app to a game with mods who aren't considering the players' feelings.

option 1: go to roll20.net and start looking through the "looking for players" postings
option 2: pick the system you want, find their subreddit or an official message board, and see if they have a discord server. make friends, look for groups!
option 3: post on your plurk asking if anyone else plays tabletop stuff, or is interested. there might be a bunch you don't know about. even if the people you find aren't looking to get into a new game, they might know someone who is!

my point is that i don't have a massive connection to the game. if the game closes, i don't lose out on all the hard work of creating it and coming up with the plots, i just move on to another game. however, i doubt that would happen. losing 40% means that there's still 60% left and i have no problem playing in a smaller game.

you know, this is a really good point. Mods could have shaped the tone of the game by being more stringent on suitability in the first place (by selecting for canons where characters worked under life-or-death pressure), and it probably wouldn't have hurt to bump the age cap up some - 15+ or even 17+.

It's more like the guy did not write his name on his food, in fact he wrote "free to take :)", and then he was surprised and disturbed to find that other people were taking it.
