You know what I wish? I wish I could find a group of people I could get with once a week or so to play some pen and paper style RP over Discord or Skype or something. Doesn't need voice, we just pick someone to be DM and go from there.

that is... not even remotely the case. these players apped in. they got accepted. calling them entitled because they want as much access to plot as the rest of the game, which everyone else can get freely, which that was never indicated to be off-limits and has no reason to be, is ridiculous.

It doesn't. This mod team is so mad that their playerbase expected them to stick to the precedents they set.

I'm immensely side-eyeing the idea that the Matsuno brothers are going to be handier than Pidge or Dave in a space battle.

as a Touken Ranbu player, I think that's absolutely a fair assessment. I think even with the blander swords a player could do something to spice them up, but otherwise plenty are boring and people just bank off their defining character traits/quirks to make something of a personality. Fun for other sword players/canon-familiar, not much for canonblind crosscanon.

My thoughts are that I hope this mod team is ready to take a firm stance on this, one way or the other. After seeing them waffle on OCs, AC, and now this, I'm not so much concerned for the kid characters as I am about their ability to lead.

Anyone who genuinely thinks that jobless manchildren are magically more qualified in missions than trained child soldiers in a sci-fi horror/survival just because the former are over eighteen are kidding themselves.

It'd be an interesting thing to explore if handled well, sure. However, setting OOC rules in place that restricts underage for participating in parts of the plot period because "Over eighteen = automatically better suited to be plopped into a sci-fi horror/survival setting than a minor" is silly.

same here! i've never done that sort of rp but i've always wanted to, it seems like it'd be so fun, but i don't know anybody who's into it or how to find a good group to join.

VTM is a fucking blast, but you need a good storyteller. It's mechanics actively promote internal conflict so as to avoid the cliche edgelord Edward Cullen wannabes. It's been way too long since I played D&D, though.

Finding a group (much less a regular group) to play it can be like pulling teeth, though. These days, unless you're lucky enough to have a local shop with a game room for that sort of thing, you're better off finding an online group to play on Skype, IRC, Discord, or something.

You just hit the nail on the head about why this is bothering me. This whole ordeal feels like the mods were insecure about their game's ability to thrive, so they let everyone in, and now they're trying to take it back in the most kneejerk way possible outside of outright banning the teenagers.

Look at any horror game. Every single one of them is going to have Voltrons, DRs, Homestucks, AOTs, etc. The argument that they couldn't have possibly expected apps from teenage characters holds no water. They made this bed, but now they don't want to lie in it, and 38% of the playerbase is getting punished for it.

Ridiculous fluffy things or sad drama are both good. One thing I've been thinking about is a post-Fates scenario, in terms of plotty things.

I'm more interested in playing Inigo, but I can give Gerome a try, too.

don't make it strictly AU and OC only. imo, maybe consider making it sort of like recolle where panfandom characters are brought into the game by ~forces~ (probably the true fae) and have their memories wiped and new ones implanted in them, with the option to regain their real ones down the line. memory loss is a pretty big theme in World of Darkness games anyway, so it's not a stretch at all.

also, seriously consider maybe implementing some sort of network feature. i know you said you wanted to steer clear of one, but let's be real: sometimes network tagging is the only gateway to action logs a player might have, and it's a more reliable way to make AC sometimes. you don't have to go all out with this kind of thing, but at least have something really basic. i forget if vampire: the masquerade: bloodlines has a message board feature your character could look at on their computer, but even something like that could work without alienating your players.

aside from that, i think you have a really good premise that would attract a lot of players. i absolutely love world of darkness and i never understood why we didn't have any games based on it because the world and elements can work really well in dwrp.

The reason I was originally thinking just OC or AU panfandom is that it would give people an opportunity to take their characters' basic personality/history/etc and turn them into a garou, or fae, adding that element to them. I know normal humans do exist, but fitting within the racial/supernatural power guidelines within WoD might be easier with an AU type setup rather than memory loss. Mechanically speaking, I'm not sure how a simple memory loss would cover something as massive as SUDDENLY FAE! or SUDDENLY GAROU! If that makes any sense :)

Shipping math was a branch of Homestuck speculation about which characters would hook up. Slightly different from regular shipping, because it was based in the assumptions that: 1) all five billion Homestuck characters would definitely either hook up or die by the end of the story, and 2) this fact and individual romances were getting a ton of foreshadowing and symbolism.

Homestuck analysis was a wild, wild world.

Did he ever, like, react to being wrong about so much stuff? BKEW always seemed like a reasonably decent guy aside from the absolute conviction in his bizarre theories. I always wondered how that was going to end up.
