that's... kind of what i just said. that it isn't the norm. i didn't say it doesn't happen, but with the amount of times i see it happening in writing in conjunction with tandem orgasms, it's just not that believable or good writing, imo. op asked for smut advice. squirting/gushing isn't going to work for everyone.

I was disheartened (accepting, but still disheartened) when the mods eventually decided they wouldn't be allowing OCs. I'd been wanting to play here. now? I feel like a dodged a bullet, to be frank. the character I'd been considering isn't underage, not even close, but sudden mod turn-arounds that will significantly impact existing players' involvement within a game do not bode well. glad I missed out now.

aw, i disagree. nathan was always an unrepentant bully and a horrible human being (even worse than the others), so i was actually happy to have rudy take his place. his was full of fail, but he was at least amusing and somewhat sympathetic, especially in light of his power.

jess and finn were meh, but i also enjoyed alex and especially abbey.

if you're going to have very heavy events in any game, then I feel the decision not to involve certain character types need to be made clear to players from the beginning. so while I agree a rule like this would have been no issue if introduced earlier, I sympathize with the players who feel they're being locked out in the last moment. so I'm not sure how to feel about this tbh... seems like a dick move.

this is sort of nuts considering what a lot of fandom 16 year olds get up to in their own canons. like, if you wanted to make it 15+ or something i'd be more understanding than 18+.

i feel like that's a matter of opinion, of which you're totally entitled to yours. i politely disagree. nathan was supposed to be that shit of a character and it's what made him such a great foil. nathan's a character you either love or hate, no in betweens. i love him. you hate him. still a good show.

if they hadn't thought it would be an issue before, then it's good that they're implementing a rule change sooner rather than later. there wouldn't have been a 'better' time to announce this, so.

for a smut game, totally understandable. for a not-smut game? doesn't make too much sense, since there are plenty of canons that have underage chars in some pretty sketchy and mature situations, sex notwithstanding.

i'm glad it wasn't just me! and that it didn't sound snooty to mention it. i think squirting is fine and all (and in fact i'd be thrilled if someone i played with wanted to incorporate it into a thread! just in case this talk is discouraging op) but it's definitely not something that i feel is part of the basic orgasm checklist, if you will. i don't want to call it a kink, because i don't personally think it counts as one, but not every female character is going to squirt every single time she comes-- and in factmost women who are capable of it don't squirt from things like fingers-on-clit masturbation, afaik-- so breaking that up a bit might help with the monotony op was talking about, you know?

no, this is definitely the sort of thing you need to have pinned down BEFORE you open your game. it's bullshit to let people app in under 18s, only to later swing around like "hey by the way, we've decided you guys don't get to participate in things the rest of your gamemates do".

this is the kind of problem that could and should have been averted if the mods had rubbed their braincells together long enough to figure out that, if they wanted to run mature events, they should set the minimum character age higher. this is just bad modship.

it is a little late to see this, but you're totally right that no time would've been better. even if they'd done this right after apps closed the underage contingent would've been pissing down their legs over this.

I was considering joining this game, but now I'm crossing it off the list. I know there are a lot of people in DWRP who want adult-focused non-sex games, and that's cool. Not every game has to be for everybody.

It's just a bit unfortunate that they waited until now to really draw the lines. It's no skin off my back since I'll just app somewhere else, but I feel kinda bad for people already playing <18 characters, or people who'll probably never get castmates because of the cap.

yes because they would have apped into the game not knowing they wouldn't be getting the full experience they would had they apped an older muse. mods are free to tweak and refine the way their games are run as needed, but people aren't wrong to be upset by this, especially if they would have happily chosen a different game if these conditions had been visible to them from the offset. stop acting like this is about "teen weebs pissing their legs" when it's about the fact people apped into the game expecting one thing and got served another.

is reading difficult for you? the under 18s aren't getting banned from all events, just some. like some OVER 18s weren't able to participate in the first event because they weren't suitable.

of all the people looking like whiny babies right now, it's a little ironic it's the anons who are presumedly playing the adult characters...

they just admitted in the post itself that they didn't expect teenagers/young characters because of the sexual/horror/violence/survival aspects of the game. their problem was in not putting a cap in in the first place. if you don't want teenagers overriding the game, put a cap in. there may have been bitching back when it opened "why is there an age limit? it's not a sex game.", but in the end, people would have apped in knowing what to expect. being told you can app in, but hey, we didn't really expect your char type, go sit in the corner...

dick move. kick out all the kids and make it an adult game.

as someone who likes playing adults, i'm glad there's at least one game i can app to and get actual adult cr instead of being the lone adult among a sea of teenagers.

You've probably already read it, but Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is a favorite animal story of mine. It has the right amount of action and suspense all while looking over the fascinating lives of the rats.

There is also the animated adaption, The Secret of NIMH, but it makes major plot changes that were huge deviations from the book and I think weakened the story, namely, creating a Designated Villain character and putting in a random magic amulet that magically fixes everything in a story that's very grounded in reality and was about hyperintelligent rats using their smarts to come up with solutions to problems.

Overall, I would call NIMH the closest to Redwall that I know of in terms of the blend of tone, action, and slice of life.

Another series I think is worth looking into is the Warrior Cats series, which I feel like falls between Redwall and Watership Down in terms of dark content, mostly mentioning battles and lots of characters dying. (Most of them background characters) It does take a quality dip the further down the arcs you go though. Warrior Cats has sister series by the same authors called Seekers (bears) and Survivors (dogs), but in my opinion they aren't nearly as captivating as Warriors. Survivors may be a little too dark for your tastes.

For something more lighthearted, there's also the Familiars series, about three animals that serve as familiars to children in training to become mages. The animals are stars of the show and the human characters only play secondary roles to them.

They may not fall under the traditional definition of cute, but I also enjoy the Shark Wars series, which has some surprisingly well developed characters. The main warning I'd give about it is that there are a few mentions of cannibalism, but they are very brief and do not go into any detail at all.

I know you say you prefer action, but if you are okay with giving something slice of life a try, Polar Bear Cafe/Shirokuma Cafe is a very relaxing and enjoyable watch. It definitely fulfills the cute animals living their lives requirement, but you're not going to find much of anything in terms of action.

20% of the game is hardly a sea of teenagers, anon.

that's the point.
