ANOTHER THING: can we ban comments that ask really stupidly specialized questions that have nothing to do with rp and would be better suited to a forum of subreddit or something? i don't understand why people come here to ask about ridiculously esoteric subjects like shrinky dinks and lip botox. if the comment could conceivably be answered by a very general audience like rpanons, okay, that's fine, but there does come a point when it just starts getting weird.

Yeah, Camila Mendes has a somewhat unique shape to her face! So I've learned from icon gathering. (Not saying it's bad, she's obviously a beauty.) I think it owes somewhat to the fact that she's pursing her lips which makes her chin jut out, too.

But how will I workshop my OC? My main target for this bratty genius OC is about 12-14 years old.

tbh i've always disagreed with this rule. what's going to stop someone from making a vaguepost that isnt rp related but changing the words around a bit so that it sounded like it was?

why is there a rule against this anyway? i've gotten lots of help from rpa because theres nowhere else i can post anonymously except a chan, and sometimes i am just way too embarrassed to post under a username.

so from the sounds of this reply, if i just change my email's password, i should probably be safe? i already changed my tumblr password back when that leak happened, but i was nervous that because my email was added to a spam list, i'd have to change the email on every account associated with that address. i've had this email since 2005 and there's... a lot of accounts tied to it.

im the same anon below that disagrees with this rule and i personally have never had a pleasant experience on 7cups and similar sites. either the person on the other end (since it's just one) is entirely unhelpful/unknowledgable or they're absolute assholes. also, none of them can fucking type.

rpa has always had plenty of off-topic threads, nobody really gives a crap about this rule anyway. a subheader would be a good way to contain it, at least.

I've been hoping for a subthread for non-rp talk for a long time. I know there's probably more people against it than for it but I wish we could have it anyway.

If you want to whine about rp or vaguely rp related shit, you are home, go for it. If you want advice about an abusive roommate or driving directions or tips for how to not get your nail polish smudged when they're still wet... idk bro, maybe try Reddit? but it doesn't belong here.

It's kind of like walking into Lowes, demanding to see their clothing section, and then throwing a fit when all they have is overalls for construction work and you want a halter top. It's one thing to ask, but it's another to start yelling and demanding a manager when people politely ask you to check elsewhere.

Except this isn't lowes, and we don't have customer service reps, and instead of being told politely to go you're gonna get two or three trolls shitting up the thread before a mod has to come clean up the mess.

one reason a lot of people hate playing with characters like this is because the player of that character type always has to have their genius win or be right all the time, even in a simple argument/disagreement. the player never seems to want to play their genius character losing an argument or being wrong about something. you have to keep in mind that "genius" does not mean "being right 100% of the time about everything ever and never losing".

real life genius types usually have certain things they're skilled at: such as figuring out mathematical problems, games of strategy (such as chess), playing a musical instrument, having a memory for detail when it comes to certain subjects. they aren't just a genius "at Life" in general. no one is a genius at EVERYTHING. think about what specific skills your character has. is he a genius computer hacker? in that case, he might be great with code but he might be terrible at other things and pretty stupid when it comes to social behavior. so if you play him in a game, let him be terrible at some things. let him be mediocre at some things. let him be able to make mistakes and learn from them. geniuses aren't just born. they LEARN things.

also if he's bratty, think about WHY he's bratty. does he just not understand that other people have feelings? or is he hiding an underlying sense of low self esteem? what are things he's afraid of? and i don't just mean "spiders". i mean what are his real weaknesses? his real fears? these are fantastic questions to ask yourself when making ANY character.

i used to rp in a game with a character who fit the "bratty child genius" trope to a T but was still wonderful to play with because the player was willing to let the character be wrong, lose arguments, get frustrated with himself for not understanding something, make mistakes, and eventually learn to be a better person. you have to be willing to poke fun at your character's flaws and let other characters poke fun at them, too. if your character is the type to troll people, you have to be able to let him get trolled back.

I really, really wish people would stop using JUST SCROLLLLL as a defense for shitty behavior. How about instead of expecting everyone to be chill with the suicide and abuse conversation threads, you follow the rules and take them somewhere appropriate?

Why are you talking about this as if comments with "I need help with depression" are the only ones that are not related to rp?

I would honestly like to hear from the mod(s) why the following threads are not deleted when they have nothing to do with rp, or alternatively, why couldn't we have them in a subthread of their own? Nobody has complained about them, yet they are just as unrelated to rp as suicide comments are.
