most fandoms don't tend to have people referencing their non-canon ships in meme threads that don't involve the shipped characters threading together

i've never really run into this with other canons outside of stuff like dear_mun threads with game crau characters so it seems voltron is an outlier

maybe there's a lot of dwrp newbies playing from it who don't know that ship headcanon involving a third party tends not to be a thing that comes up in meme threads around here

i hear luhan has a cameo in at least the trailers and thats literally all i care about tbh

i think it's offensive too. way to continue to reinforce bullshit gender stereotypes with this genderfluid nonsense.

god forbid a girl keeps her hair short, doesn't dress or act feminine, and excels at a subject that's traditionally seen as for men only. nope, can't be a lady. gotta be trans or genderfluid, because if you don't like makeup, dresses, and being dumb as a box of rocks, you're not a woman to these clowns.

I honestly didn't even consider the possibility of having him fall into a protagonist role, but it seems so obvious to me now? I mean, I agree with you. I don't think he would have taken charge of voltron as team lead if he hadn't been assigned it, but since it's his, he takes it seriously, because that's pretty much what he's literally been trained to do. "Do what must be done" sort.

ymmv, i don't believe he was 'trained' to it. that depends on your interpretation though. he has a military background and he is the oldest (kind of) on the ship, but i can't remember any moments where he "mentors" that can't be read as "supporting" instead. the difference is how much you want to see him as the team adult, which is not all that different from being the team dad.

also i read him as having a somewhat fatalistic streak too: he's been traumatized and in a sense doesn't expect himself to survive.

anyway, with the ship thing, i meant it as in "antishipping anons are going to tell you that shipping shiro is a huge deal in this fandom when it's not". this is the strangest fandom i have ever been in. not to put you off though. just make a preferences post like below anon said if the things being said really worry you. most of all, please enjoy playing him!

i'm not antishipping at all. i ship a lot of different pairings, with and without shiro, in voltron.

what i was advising op was not to force whatever op might ship onto anyone else. because that is a problem in this fandom. i've played in a lot of fandoms and this is the only one that has people bringing their ships into threads with me.

ex: a hunk tagging my shiro and talking to him about how keith and lance are in a ship together or a lance tagging my shiro to talk about his relationship problems with keith or a shiro tagging my hunk to talk about keith and lance in a relationship together. it's annoying and really awkward and ymmv but it turns me off of playing with people who do this. (unless they're people i've played with before/have asked me if it's cool. many people in this fandom don't ask, they just assume.)

ah, I'm glad. I love talking 'shop' about Shiro stuff and its always fun to read everyone's interpretations of him and why they feel that way.

I think I worded that poorly, but I meant that I think he was trained to accept missions with grace and take them seriously (wtr protagonist role). Unless I misunderstood somewhere. Oop.

The fatalistic streak is something I definitely see too. I really like that side of him as a character? I feel like it's one of the things that makes him unique.

I'd even take those casual sex bonobo things where people just have sex wherever in public. This is just my favorite thing.

Canon characters or OCs made up for a scene are fine with me. Mostly looking for F/M (I mostly play girl characters) though in this case futas/herms would probably be okay too? And I have a million ideas.

ikr? i don't get people threatening to quit the game over killing dragons in an optional quest. at the end of the day, you don't need that mount.

also, i wouldn't think it's out of character for DKs to do some questionable things. look at any of their questlines; "do this by any means necessary" is pretty much the order of the day here. the knights of the ebon blade might not be part of the scourge anymore, but they're still not a terribly nice bunch of people.
