yknow what, i didn't think i still gave a fuck about dick jokes: the anime in the year of our lord 2017, but I've been having a good time reading kara and ichi's threads.

never had a lot of cash growing up, and archie comics were cheap and easy to get at the grocery store. i guess i could hipster this if i wanted to, but archie is a dumb thing to be all ground floor about.

I know I take a million years here and there, but that's more having no free time atm.

Just throwing out a guess that that might be the case there, too.

Similar to the anon above me, my PC isn't the commander. She's a wayward sylvari necromancer who's far too lazy/cowardly for war. She's heard of the commander's exploits and is glad SOMEONE stepped up, but hell if it was ever gonna be her. She'd rather wander and exploit her minions to do odd jobs and pick pockets or dance for gold and generally ignore whatever direction the Dream is pointing her in.

While she isn't quite on the level of the Soundless or the Edgelord Court, she disagrees with the idea of just agreeing with whatever the Pale Tree and Ventari's tablet have to say about the way she lives her life. She enjoys the company of other sylvari in the Dream, and she'd feel disconnected without their presence, but she wants to live among the other races and experience them for herself.

So far, the Charr are her favorite.

Oh, and I don't think the Commander is appable because they aren't a malleable but already existing protag, they're just straight up canon OC. They don't have a set look, race, gender, creed, or backstory. The only consistencies in their story come after Claw Island, halfway through the first campaign, and even then there are branches everywhere. The only thing they have in terms of a set personality is a lot of patience for all the nonsense and the sense not to give up hope.

And like the other anon said, there's the issue if a player assuming their Commander is the Commander. If I were a mod in a game that let in MMO PCs, I wouldn't accept characters as Commanders.

look on the bright side, anons: eluvio has mandatory hmds. even if era doesn't have an hmd on her journal she can't avoid crit forever.

Looking for a (probably drawn) pb for an android. would vastly prefer an androgynous pb, the more obviously robotic the better, and at least one or two sinister expressions.

Have you heard of Freedom Wars? It's a video game where your character is placed in jail for 1 million years because they are a drain on resources. You have to complete missions to earn years off your sentence, and there are all kinds of arbitrary rules that add time to your sentence. At one point you can get +500 years for not agreeing that the prison mascot is cute.

What I'm saying is, that kind of thing would add lots of interest to your premise. The rules don't have to be actually enforced, they're there as a jumping off point for player interaction. The missions would just be Events.

And you could have characters app in as guards/earn the right to become a guard and be able to enforce arbitrary rules of their own.

We were having a pretty good discussion about this in the last post. Anyone still interested?

Most people seemed in favour of a city setting, possibly malevolent a la silent hill, with both original and existing canon inspired events.

The jury was out on character/cast caps, app cycles vs permanent open apps, and whether or not mods should be anon.

Wanna brainstorm some more details of the setting? I'm a sucker for genius locii plots.

but nearly all Dia usernames are a pun on her name so you gotta distinguish yourself more. some other possibilities...

ｋａｒｅｉ: from her opening line "look forward to my elegant technique" in lives when you set her as center of a team in SIF.
ｈｅａｒｔｃａｔｃｈｉｎｇ: from her side story for the new year UR and the title track of AZALEA's first single.
ｍｕｌｔｉｔａｌｅｎｔ: she claims to have many talents ("multitalented" and "manytalents" are taken)

if you are apping/playing with a cast, another option is to match usernames. ｒａｉｎｂｏｗａｆｒｏ,　ｇｏｌｄｍａｓｋ,　ａｎｇｒｙｍａｓｋ,　ｇｏｒｉｌｌａｍａｓｋ etc.

Basically I spent the weekend watching Danganronpa: Future Arc and playing Let It Die, and now I'm curious as to whether anyone would be interested in a game with aspects of both.

Characters are entered into a tournament, willingly or otherwise, where they can earn huge rewards at the risk of death. It's not always as simple as 'last man standing' though - every game is different. You might have to weed out the traitors in your group before they kill you all. You might have to collect tokens from other players to ensure your survival. There will be challenges that require you to work together, and challenges that require you to betray your allies. The longer you last, the greater the reward.

To make things interesting, characters get handicaps that are enforced by paralysing shock collars. Perform your forbidden action, and you're out for the count. These actions might be easily avoided like 'you can't use your favourite weapon' or they might be near impossible, like 'you can't open doors'.

Death is not so much an ending as a setback. When you die, your rank is reset and you lose whatever privileges you earned since your last checkpoint. Die enough times and you start coming back wrong - maybe your hair changed colour. Maybe you have superpowers now. It's a mixed bag.

I'm thinking that the whole thing might be televised, with particular incentives for being an audience favourite - gifts of food and weapons, hints as to other character's weaknesses, etc.

Setting wise I'd be going for that kind of cyber punk dystopia vibe.

Would something like this even work as an RP? Could players be trusted to fight fair, or would we have to implement some kind of random selection as to who dies when? What different game types might there be? Should the game be kept small or have a huge cast of characters?

I dump things like this in the game ideas thread all the time. You never know when an idea might snowball into an actual game. Most people are averse to straight up using other people's ideas though, so you'd have to be very clear that it's up for grabs.

And be prepared for disappointment when nobody wants to mod it.
