most artists in nerd spaces, especially in places like tumblr, appreciate the power of RP and wouldn't question your crosscanon ships. my best friend is an artist who occasionally gets RP/fic art requests, and according to her it's a job, so there's no real judgement there. you don't have to gush for hours or yammer about your threads, just be like "okay so I want a picture of this scene where goku takes vegeta on a gondola ride" or whatever, and the artist will hash out deets from there.
