Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. How friendly is this game if you're coming in without friends already in? I have been thinking about joining for a while because I love the premise, but I don't play an anime or popular fandom and I've heard that it's clique-ish there.

i can only speak for myself, but i came in without knowing anyone and as an lcw in a fandom that sort of fluctuates in popularity. i've been there for a while, and got a few canonmates now, but even before that getting rp worked out just fine for me.

also i've never really noticed it being as cliquey as people say to tell the truth

i came in not knowing anyone and i've made a lot of good friends since. i don't play from anime or popular fandoms and that's never been a problem ime. some of my best cr has been with characters from fandoms i don't know.

i think the tdm is coming up so you could give that a go if you wanted to dip your toes in first.

Thanks! I was actually wondering about the LA/anime balance. I will play against absolutely anyone and I don't mind reaching out and doing the work to set up CR, but I like to know the general atmosphere before I go in. I'll keep an eye out for the TDM, then.

Speaking as someone no longer in the game, in general the people that people complain are "cliquey", the cliques are the ones who actually will tag you back in a timely manner. They're the people who are still excited and invested in the game and are willing to make things work despite all the flaws. From what i can tell, it only looks cliquey because the people who aren't "the clique" tend not to engage with the events presented, so of course it's going to be the same people tagging the events.

So as far as getting tags and CR, you won't have any issues in that court, especially since it sounds like you're quite proactive in seeking it out.

Seconding this. Tag out, tag around, I haven't seen anyone have their tags ignored by the active lot. People may not actively reach out as much due to tag load/etc but if there's an open prompt and you want to go for it do! The cliquishness has a lot to do with perception, the players are largely friendly.
