They did. RT and 343 Industries are kind of partners with the whole thing now. 343 has RvB stuff as part of their Halo museum.

i keep giving it a chance and hoping it'll get better but the writing and pacing is shit. The fact that ruby still has very little development even though it's almost the end of season 4 is ridiculous.

I've been a fan since it started as a fun little show to watch once a week and thought the characters and ideas were enjoyable enough. Even as a fan though this last season has been really frustrating.

So I think you are talking about in general? And basically the whole thing is kinda just a lot of pent-up backlash people can express now.

Even before RT and RWBY Monty was this weird sacred cow to a lot of people and it was not acceptable for some reason to criticize his animations or lack of growth or nongenericness. I still love Dead Fantasy to this day but man it's generic and didn't even hold up well animationwise for the time. But you were never allowed to say it.

With Roosterteeth forcing any theft complaint to be silent or to be sued out of existence this really nasty and petty thought process took over and stewed in the back of people's mind. Where it got blown up for years upon years and made the image worse in peoples head.

Is there a serious source on being threatened with legal action? I've seen it thrown around a lot but I can't find specific examples of people saying "yes this happened to me."

you won't find any because they don't exist. most of the artists who had their models/assets stolen have just said it's not worth fighting, pretty sure montecore specifically said they weren't bothering due to it being a cross-borders case AND his models generally being fanworks.

They existed at some point but artists are surprisingly good at self-preservation and sometimes running the fuck away is the best response.
