Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

I'm not sure where else this would go, so mod I apologize if this is the wrong place, please direct me otherwise?

I just want to know, are there any games anywhere that people actually tag in a timely manner? None of this SUPER BACKTAG FRIENDLY nonsense, I want to find a place to write with people who are actually going to get through a thread inside of two weeks. I'm not trying to be bitchy about it, but I can't seem to find anywhere to RP anymore that people actually seem to be active and actually tag more than like twice a week. It's depressing. Like I don't even care about the genre so much anymore, I just want to actually write with people again and get tagged more than once every four days if I'm lucky.

Please help?

i mean

you are being bitchy about it. plenty games have the pace you're looking for.

but hey, throw you a bone, tanagura.

tanagura player here. this is a hundred percent accurate. people are typically very good at communicating when they're going to be on the slower, and only a few players are annoying when plurking about tag motivation

(Anonymous) 2017-01-05 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
there are people like this in pretty much every game. there aren't a lot of games where you're guaranteed that every player will be as active as you want. i'd suggest joining an ecats game or a short-term murder game, since those are the only kinds of games with strict enough AC requirements that everybody tags back quickly.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-05 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
where to go: the atp/enable me thread or [personal profile] enablemeplz

where to play: ecats games

(Anonymous) 2017-01-05 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
so far, eluvio's players have been pretty quick about tagging and wrapping threads up.

here http://rpanons.dreamwidth.org/68867.html?thread=219085059#cmt219085059

or literally anywhere else in this entire post that isn't in this thread, which is for discussing specific games

(Anonymous) 2017-01-05 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Where are you playing that majority of people are literally only tagging back once every four days? Because I've seen these complaints in my friends' plurks a lot, but only from players that annoying and clingy, shit tier writers, or have terrible characterization.

If you're not exaggerating for pity points it must just be you.

i hear murdergames are pretty fast paced, if that's your thing. so much so that lots of people just drop/don't app to any other game because they're so fast.

Above anon is correct. Murder games have a very good number of boomerangers and a weekly AC with activity bonuses. In fact people tend not to backtag much in those because of how fast the plot moves. That's where most of DW's more active players are now.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-08 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
that's such a bummer, though... i don't get the appeal in those games at all. unless you're playing a psycho murderer, isn't it just an exercise in breaking your character? sounds like it'd get old after the first week.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-08 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
sure, you can approach it like that

but some of the perks i found were
-that really quick tagging, especially during major moments like trials and events
-the puzzle solving aspect (who, how, why) that 100% requires you to cooperate with other players and be willing to think creatively to succeed
-as someone who played a murderer, i actually found them with incentive to curb their own killing impulses and to keep themselves in check so they didn't get falsely accused
-the CR develops radically and quickly given the environment - characters figure out who they want to trust and who'd they be willing to scapegoat

overall i didn't see it like breaking my character but more like getting to explore them under high pressure and see how they adapted to it. and the enthusiasm from other players to actually play in the setting was great too.

hmm, i see! that does sound fun when you frame it that way. i play a lot of sol characters which would probably make a terrible fit, but if i go with someone from a more mature source material it might be good... the promise of actually getting to play is pretty damn tempting, haha.

some murdergames are offering tdms now so you can try before you buy, so to speak

even if you decide it's not for you, i hope you find a game that you like, anon

If it helps, at least one game is coming out soon that has the murdergame structure (weekly AC, fast tagging, weekly events) but without the murder. I'm sure more are to follow too.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-14 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
what game is that, anon?

(Anonymous) 2017-01-08 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
sounds good to me. anyone know what murdergames are around to join right now?

Trustfell is about to start round 4, they just had a test drive go up. From the looks of things though, that one is likely going to have reserves fill up in no time.

Airlocked is a new one that's going to open in February. They have a mock trial coming up real soon that still has some slots available if you want to give that one a test run and get a feel for how trials and investigations work. There's also a TDM up.

Raising Project is another new one that will be starting up in March. No TDM or mock trial up yet though, but they do have a FAQ to get info from at least.

If I remember right It's Curtains is also starting up soon, but that one is for characters from musical canons only. Someone else may know more on this, I never looked at it too much since I have no characters to send to it.

These definitely aren't the only ones, just the ones that I know of that will be opening or starting a new round in the near future. Most of these you find out about via plurk from other folks who have an interest in these sorts of games.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-12 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
It's Curtains finished a few weeks ago, unless they're starting another round.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-14 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
As someone who was in It's Curtains, it was amazing. When it comes back for round 2, and you have a musical character GO FOR IT! It's an amazing and unique concept, and I will definitely hit up round 2. Just have to nail down who I want to throw in.
