two people put in an application for the same person. game doesn't accept challengers.

person 1 had the character originally reserved, but it expired. they sent in their application first.
person 2 reserved the character after person 2. they sent in their application second.

soooo, who would rightfully get to app in that character?

determinada's reserve expired on January 2nd.

sacredrites reserved on January 3rd, a couple hours after midnight.

Today, sylleblossom put their app in today on January 4th after sacredrites had already made the reserve.

Except if I'm right in thinking the OP is talking about empatheias, then application challenges are allowed.

Since you apparently can't figure out that whoever had the active reserve when the applications were submitted has the right to the application slot, I sincerely doubt your ability to read game rules thoroughly.

i'm not op. i'm pointing out on both comms, as you are, that someone can't fucking read. op should be able to figure out that whoever's reserve is active is who gets to app in. the anon i replied to should figure out that there's only two people involved and op specifically stated no app challenges allowed, so trying to somehow make that scenario right because you want it so badly to fit doesn't make it right, cinder-sister.

Except in that case the game allows challenges and the only thing a reserve guarantees is that someone else won't be accepted for that character before your reserve expires.

but most of the time the challenger also has to submit a reserve to let the mods know to expect them and to wait for their app before judging. otherwise, maybe the mods have already read the app that's been submitted and made a decision amongst themselves

so if the other applicant didn't do that, they're probably still out of luck

If I remember right, empatheias doesn't require that since they process all apps after the cycle closes anyhow.

they don't require it. the way i understand it, the only difference the reserve makes is if the two apps are both equally good and in that case the reserve gets the preference, though i could be wrong on that. afaik it's meant to be a tiebreaker in the case of multiple apps of equal quality.

solution:

if person 1 submitted their app first, and did it before person 2 put in their reserve, then i would review person 1's app. person 2 might have put in a reserve, but person 1 submitted an app before that so it doesn't matter.

if person 1 submitted their app first, but did it after person 2 reserved, then i wouldn't accept their app and instead look at person 2's first. person 2 had the reserve, so it's only fair they get the first priority regardless of when they submit their app.
