Q: What kind of institution is the Garrison? Is it a college, university, military, or something else?
A: Yes, it’s all of that. It’s kind of this uh, futuristic, NASA-like institution that also trains the upcoming astronauts. So we see, you know the school aspect of that with our young paladins, but when Shiro crashes in we see all of those response vehicles that go out after that. That’s the kind of more military aspect. So they’ve arranged all of the space travel, but also train the new recruits.

look sometimes lazy saturday morning conversations happen in plurk and then four or five lions end up with accounts but who keeps track??? here have a super nice fic of Shiro and Black "talking" after Zarkon tried to break them up

that's a good point and not one I'm going to argue. I think losing his arm and a year of his life was enough for the poor guy.

I'm also loving that we're seeing Zarkon all fired up. S1 was all about buildup, like how the Galra is presented like water receding from the shore, then S2's the oncoming tsunami.

and we've got how many more seasons to go?

plus it seems we've been warned that the cliff hanger at the end of season two is going to be even worse than it was for one.

I was going to say 'dammit Shiro stay out of the Light!' but what if that's how he ended up fighting Zarkon in neon space?

A few more to come, I hope :D! With the Netflix formula, I'd be happy enough with three seasons -- start-middle-end, as it were. I will not complain with two more for the sake of indulgence. Anything more than that would be overkill, imho. I can live with the cliffhangers, specially now that we know that the wait's worth it. Plus! Space Dad Josh helps out in tiding us over with his antics. I mean, have you seen his Twitter feed today XD ??

I think The Light's a different thing. I don't think it's random that the voice clip they chose for that scene was Shiro handing leadership over to Keith. We're speculating over on plurk that if it's not Shiro dying (which I hope to all things good will not happen), it could be that he figures he's the reason why Zarkon keeps finding them and so he'll give himself up / phone home to Haggar to save the others TT^TT .

If that happens, then it would effectively callback to what Sendak said in Crystal Venom: "We're connected, you and me. Both part of the Galra Empire."

also - thanks for this, nonnie! It's good to see that we're on the right track. (and that they're putting some thought into the Garrison) I know its not likely but I'd love to see some more detail about it in the coming season, maybe in some flashbacks or something.
