Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

tbh, i feel like you should at least give people an idea of where to do their research instead of saying "IT'S NOT MY JOB TO EDUCATE YOU, SHITLORD!"

there's a lot of misinformation online, especially on tumblr. and if i wanted somebody to learn more about lgbt culture, i would probably advise against one of those stupid tumblrs that lists a million bullshit genders like bunself, faeself, flowerself, voidgender, spacegender, etc. and a million special snowflake sexualities like lithromantic, demisexual, sapiosexual, queerplatonic, etc.

People who go "it's not my job to educate you" are just morons who have no clue what even causes stereotypes and prejudice to begin with. They are just too busy patting themselves on the back for being a good little SJW and not realizing that they are actually reinforcing the beliefs they are supposedly fighting against. It's armchair activism at its finest and they are the ones who need to be educated far more so they can stop making things worse.

i mean its true that it isn't the duty of minorities to constantly talk to the majority about what is and isn't racist/sexist/whatever but at the same time you can just... disengage. you don't need an exit line.

The original point wasn't about minorities though, it was about "allies". It is indeed not the job of minorities to educate the majority. But educating other members of the majority is one of the best things an ally can do.

yes, this is the point i was making!

it might have come off jumbled due to recent frustrations that have really stuck in my craw. so many friends of friends that are sjws have begun to drop that line in order to get out of even talking to other people who honestly are looking for info and it's dumb as fuck.

9/10 it's a white girl with class privilege turning her nose up when it comes to issues about race or shit that has nothing to do with them being the affected party. saying "just google it!!!" is absurd- i can google about racial issues in america or lgbt+ concerns and come away not learning a damn thing or, worse, finding enormously prejudiced shit. someone inquiring for more information will not know what the hell to search for, and allies shirking what should be our duty on behalf of affected friends is incredibly ridiculous.
