I'm terribly shy but...I want to play a particular rare ship from this game. It's not with any of the main characters (they're supporting characters, one of which you only see in Kingsglaive) though and it's definitely not a common one.

in each game, 9 strangers are kidnapped and brought to a facility by someone called Zero and forced to play a game for reasons they learn as they participate

what would you think of a cr meme for bakerstreet? nothing fancy, just "character types that click well with X" and "my favorite canonpoints and memes" or somesuch. mostly i figure this would help with cross-canon threading on memes. i've seen some comments that people want to tag around but are canon-unfamiliar, or otherwise don't know what the other person's looking for in a thread. thoughts?

i just saw it again last night and have been thinking about this so oops here it goes.

it seemed more like a loosely connected series of fun set pieces than an actual story. the coconut people and the crab were completely irrelevant and the villain didn't really play a huge part in the narrative until the end which lessened any impact the redemption ending might've had. the coconut people were especially bad because at least the crab served the purpose of getting them back the hook and cluing moana into maui's backstory, what the hell did the coconut people do? warn us that bad things would be coming after the heart, which nothing else ever did?

If I were rewriting this movie I'd nix the crab and coconuts, and instead give Te Ka some minions - maybe personified ash? - that would serve as minibosses. They could constantly be seeking to steal the heart back and, in the process, corrupt more of the world and drive home the threat to Moana's island, which was also very underplayed. I'd also perhaps make it so that Te Fiti, in particular, was the goddess that took in Maui; it would both give the main characters more of an emotional stake in her healing and make what Maui did much worse.

other things:
-maui was a piece that didn't fit at all. his driving theme was wanting to be accepted/loved and it didn't clearly relate to anybody else's problems at all. he talked to the fourth wall ("it's called tweeting" UGH FUCK OFF i can't believe that made it into the movie). he came back with zero explanation as to why.
-maybe I just missed this, but how did we go from moana fixed things so that the island becomes a great place to live again => moana's people become voyagers again? there wasn't a clear link there. we can guess from the shell placed on the rock that they're doing it because she's chief now but there's not a satisfying progression there.
-i don't have a third thing it just looks strange with only two points. I liked the chicken.

taxonomites for me. first game, first cast. it'll always be special to me.

loved the visuals, loved the soundtrack, loved the characters, shrug on the story

I really enjoyed the movie myself, but I felt the same way about the coconuts and the crab. Seemed like filler in the story.
