All the pretty little anons

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

yeah, i don't think it's a big deal or anything. it's not like i've ever avoided writing about nipples just because i think the word sounds dumb.

i have actually seen people drop threads over the usage of "cum" instead of "come" though. or vice versa. no idea why that's an issue for people though.

i've always seen cum as something guys write and come as a female writer's version. female writers have come in here saying they use cum and males have used come, but to me personally? it feels more like penthouse vs an actual novel. most actual books you pick up (usually written by women) have it as come, vs penthouse with their 'cum all over her tits'.

not like i'd drop a thread over it, but some people might make an assumption that it means they're playing with a guy or a creepy pervert (the two are non synonymous, but some people are dumb) and drop it over that. sorry to hear that's happened.

yeah, i've never lost a thread over it personally, i've just seen people talk about it on plurk and around here over the years. but i've gotta say that explanation makes a lot of sense to me.

i do agree that cum sounds more penthouse-y. i've always defaulted to using cum in dirtier smut threads and come in more serious or emotional ones, but i've never been drawn out of the moment if someone uses it differently. language is fucking weird man.

i use cum as a noun (ie literally semen) and come as a verb for the act of an orgasm! which i think is more technically correct, if i'm not mistaken?

I've always written and read them this way too.

Same! I always thought I was along in this. Because I prefer "I'm coming," to "I'm cumming." Cumming is a last name to me, not a verb.

But "come" as a noun feels strange, so "cum" it is.

This is how I've always thought of it. I make some exceptions for characters I can't quite see using the word "cum" at all.

Having said that, this is a case where I don't mind following my rp partner's lead if they use either variation before I do. I know that it matters less to me than it does to some people.

This is stupid gendered bullshit it needs to stop

Who gives a fuck how someone spells such a silly word? I'm assuming you don't thread much smut if this actually bothers you

are you talking to me or in general? because i don't care either way and i put that in my reply. but it does seem to bother some people if they find out they're smutting with a gender they don't want to be. most people assume female by default on dwrp unless they know otherwise. so if someone who doesn't want to interact with men online finds out or thinks they're rping with a guy in a smut thread, that could bother them.

like i said, it doesn't bother me. i'm playing the characters not the players. but there are reasons why people would do a thing.

Sorry I didn't mean you specifically it's just a dumb mindset I've seen a lot

Plenty of women use "cum" it doesn't make it a "gross male thing" and vice versa for come.
