All the pretty little anons

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

i'm not sure why that's surprising when there are no alola forms outside of gen 1

i think anon meant they aren't at all in the alola dex. many pokemon related to the sun or the moon were left out, like sunflora.

i'm not fully convinced that's the finished regional dex, the order's all wrong

it doesn't make a lot of sense that they'd program the entire finished dex into a demo, anyway.

lmao you don't actually believe demos are programmed from the scratch, do you? (and i mean in general, not just gamefreak)

they take the data from the finished game and modify it a bit. that's why you see roadblocks like the slowpokes instead of just deleting the routes. they can't delete information or it would cause glitches.

ORAS demo gave us all the game info too. this time they tried to prevent some mining - we only have sprites without names and types because they took care of text and replaced everyone's stats with pikachu's.

i don't know what pic you saw, anon, but the order is fine

regional dexes wouldn't be in national order

Re: Pokemon

the programming is in national order, anon, it's a matter of numbers. it's always been like that. all items, attacks, abilities, etc, have an asigned internal number (which you can see in bulbapedia). pokemon's numbers correspond to the national dex. think of it as programmed grid. In each column you see: number, normal sprite, shiny sprite, ability, etc. that's why there is programmed info that we never use, like certain shinies and hidden abilities that were never released, there can't be empty squares in the grid, it's what causes glitches. bulbasaur will always be #001. if you want a good exame of this that anyone can see and not only programmers, check out cheating codes for old gens. the "make any pokemon appear in the tall grass" code is a series of numbers with xxx at the end. you replace those Xs with the national number of the pokemon you want and there you go, catch it wild.

they'll be arranged correctly in the game dex.
