The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

yeah, maybe i just should have asked. okay, so what's backtagging? cr? and infomodding? obv i know about godmodding but this is something else.

i'm coming from the lj/gj/ij world. been around all of them but most recently ij.

backtagging - tagging old threads. i'm not sure how long threads/scenes/whatever you call them usually last where you're coming from. but "open to backtagging" basically means you're willing to keep tagging the thread even if there's a long time between replies or (if in a game) it's an older thread and your characters have moved on to different things that take place later on.

some people lose interest or can't keep up motivation for older or slower-paced threads, but with more people tagging slower in general most of us are open to backtagging now. i'll go for about a month or so in game before i try to wrap it up or let it go. meme/psl threads i'll tag indefinitely.


cr - "character relations". basically what it sounds like, the relationships your character has with others in a game. so "close cr" is the character's closest friends, "negative cr" means an antagonistic relationship, etc. can be used in a general sense referring to all relationships ("cr meme" - for planning stuff/seeking out new people to thread with in game) or in the singular between two characters (telling bob's mun "i love danny and bob's cr!")


infomodding - when your character knows more than they should, a big no-no. often used against villain characters, as when other characters have a "feeling" that the villain can't be trusted even when he hasn't done anything wrong in-game and there's no way they could possibly know he's the bad guy. can be abused either by bringing in your knowledge of canon (that your character has no way of knowing) or your knowledge of the other person's future plans for their character (same).

If you are new I would genuinely recommend staying off anoncomms. Just use the resource link and wander around. The majority of discussion here is utterly trivial and pointless and just makes all of DWRP look like sad old assholes when I promise we aren't. Not ALL of us anyway!
