All the pretty little anons
Rundown:
rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.
Rules:
Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-05 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)It can be a nuisance. It's not mind-blowingly difficult to deal with but it's more than most people would like to bother with unless they are actually enthusiasts for rig-building, and it's not without risks (like leaking). Liquid cooling's lifetime is dependent on the usage I think, but I want to say it requires maintenance between 6 months and a year. But I'll also add that everyone I know who bought liquid cooling with their computer and didn't incorporate it into their computer as an enthusiast has been prone to neglecting upkeep.
The primary purpose for having liquid cooling over air cooling is that it can cool at significantly greater efficiency due to the thermal conductivity of liquid; it's intended for a computer that is going to get very hot very often because it can absorb heat energy at greater capacity without heating up itself when compared to air. If you're getting it because your computer heats up your room, it won't necessarily help with that situation, because the heat energy is still ultimately transferred out of the machine.
Even if you've historically had overheating issues but don't fit the first 2 criteria, it may not be indicative that you need liquid cooling. Fans also require maintenance since they can clog with dust over time or become faulty and cease functioning, or it could be that the computer is being forced beyond its means, in which case you just want a more powerful machine that can do what you need it to without straining.
Bottom line is that liquid cooling is far too expensive to buy on a just-in-case basis. It's a significant investment of money and at least a small investment of time learning to take care of the thing.
