All the pretty little anons

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

tbh i still dont get people being shocked about people threatening to shoot clowns. like. they are choosing to show up and act creepy in rural areas....areas where most people own guns out of necessity bc you cant rely on the police to arrive in a timely manner in any situation...areas where it is often hard to tell whether you're on public property or private when you're in the woods near someone's house..............

like literally what do they expect to happen. obviously a four year old coming to your door with a big grin and a fucking trick or treat bag isn't going to be shot on sight, but if anyone, dressed like a clown or not, shows up on somebody's property in the middle of nowhere acting threatening then. well. that's what people own shotguns for. and if they're too stupid to run at the sight of a gun like a normal robber/murderer/creepy person then honestly they probably deserve to be shot.

I remember I had a 'wow' moment watching TV once. A cop and a park ranger were off in the woods looking for someone and they came around a dirt trail with a chain across it and a 'no trespassing' sign.

and they really hesitated a long moment before they went over it!

It blew my mind because usually on cop shows they just keep going but suddenly I was like 'holy shit! they're right!' In the real world, if you run into one of those in the woods near where I live you just assume, usually rightly, that the person that lives somewhere near there had a gun or three and is probably going to use them if surprised by strangers.

Most realistic moment in TV I've seen in a long time. You don't fuck around doing creepy or suspicious shit around people's houses in rural areas.

+1

I also grew up in a rural area and I can confirm this is true. People have definitely been shot around here trespassing on other people's land, and my own father ran out of the house once or twice with a shotgun to tell someone who was hanging around to get out (it was usually just a drunk teenager or a hunter who was where they weren't supposed to be, but when you live a 30 minute drive from the nearest police station you have to be careful). So of course creepy clowns that are lurking in the woods are going to have guns pointed at them.

But how likely is it that someone wearing a clown mask in the woods is up to serious harm rather than fucking around like the idiot drunk mentioned above? Is this something that just happens more often in the states or what?

because said idiot might be up to something other than being a moron.

right now there are a lot of fuckheads dressing up as clowns and doing things like calling in threats to schools, hanging around people's property and trying to lure kids into the woods with candy, stuff like that...and yes as far as i know it's only happening in the states. but it started in less rural areas in the northern part of the country, and now that it's moving to the south there are a lot of people who apparently know nothing about the area expressing ~~shock~~ and ~~~horror~~~ that people are threatening to shoot the clowns. like, again, ANYONE who showed up on someone's property in a rural area and acted that way would be in danger of being shot if they didnt leave, it's just that being doing it while dressed as a clown is a hot topic right now.

i wish people would stop hyping this though, it just makes more people make up bullshit stories or encourages copycats and some idiot teenager really is going to get hurt one day

the ones making the facebook to post threats to schools sound like dumbass teens who really want a day off

I thought it actually started in GB

i live in a city where this is happening and i've heard people legit say they would shoot one of those clown guys. and considering these people are creeping and grabbing little kids in some parts, i don't really blame them.
