Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Thanks for your suggestions! I think a cast cap of one would be a little too restrictive - but I was leaning towards having it be AU or memloss from the start. I don't want to prevent people from playing an arc with their castmates or even with a canon ship (because I've had a few canon ships myself that developed almost entirely offscreen and would love to play something like this), but I also don't want anyone to be expected to play the canon ship.

Would there be a way to strike a good balance between "you can play a ship with a castmate" and "but you don't have to, even if it's canon"? I was leaning towards memloss (or AU where it's assumed that none of the characters know each other) because it'd eliminate pre-existing relationships and the problem of characters being madly in love with someone back home and having to either go OOC or angst about betraying that person the whole time.

Maybe a rule like "If you have a specific ship in mind or your character's canon partner is in game, we encourage you to contact them before you app and see if they're interested in playing it", with the understanding that some players might want to do something different even if they like the canon ship.

memloss is probably easier than AU for most people. dwrp hates writing aus

i really think you could do both! if the people want to au let them, if they want it to be memloss they can do that too!

maybe their universes ended and they got brought here with their castmates and are totally happy living a peaceful life, except they can't find a partner. so to help them along the people in charge give them temp amnesia so they go into the hotel without any preconceived bias for or against anyone.

if it doesn't work to have memloss and au peeps in at the same time you can just run them in different cycles.

personally i prefer au games, but i realize im in the minority. still i would really love if au could at least be an option at some point, even if it isn't in the first cycle.
