rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. yeah, i have considered characters like him in the past and i think they might just be the hardest character type to play. One quality about them that I haven't seen brought up yet (and part of why they're so tricky) is that they notice things that are so pinpoint that often the characters themselves don't notice them. like hannibal with will and starling, he notices stuff so precise that i'm not sure any rper gives it thought (lbr how often does shaving even come up in rp, let alone an rper knowing what kind of shaving lotion their character uses?)

Add to that the very easy pit of infomodding that you can fall into plus that these kind of characters tend to have irascible personalities that rub both players and characters the wrong way and you have a character that plays kind of like preparing a puffer fish, very delicious if prepared in an exact way but toxic if you slip off the rails even a little bit. i used to know a sherlock player who just infomodded like crazy, they drove me nuts but after considering how i'd play the character i started understanding how easy it'd be to fall into that trap

i'm not saying don't play him, but definitely know what you're getting into (and it sounds like you do)
