Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

religion? yes. other minority, like racial or sexual? no

(Anonymous) 2016-05-12 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
and yet that wasn't the question at hand

(Anonymous) 2016-05-12 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
more like the question wasn't just about Christianity (or really Catholicism denominations since those are the ones most against birth control, health insurance, and the evil evil gays more then any Protestant denominations) but people putting up something that doesn't really need to be the first thing you see on a companies homepage.

not the about us page but the homepage.

but hey you internet atheists make religion look good for everyone so keep on keeping on.

Whenever I'm doing fight scenes, I try to restrict myself to one or two "action" moves per tag, depending on what the other person has done. For example, the other person tries to hit my character, and I have two moves in response: I either block, dodge, or take the hit, and then respond with an attack. That's one tag. Keeping things simple like that can make the scene easier to follow, AND it means that the other player can choose whether to take the hit or not, which makes things more interesting.

As was said above, loosely work out what the outcome is, and any outcome goals you might have. (ie. "I want it to end in a draw, but let's beat the shit out of each other" or "My character wins, but they lose a hand in the process," things like that.) Communicate with your partner. Don't get too fussy about language, just try to communicate clearly what each move your character does is attempting to accomplish.

Don't control the other character (the above example of "swinging for their jaw" vs "punching them and shattering their jaw instantly"), and don't be that guy that is just so overpowered that they never ever ever get hit, it's boring to play against. But be clear about your character's actual abilities, too. If you've got a fistfight between Goku and, say, Phoenix Wright, there's a serious difference in power levels, there.

And don't be afraid to ask for help or clarification wherever you need it!

why the fuck are you taking this so personally? it is relevant to the question, because if a company brands itself as christian, i'm wary of it. am i wary when a company promotes itself as muslim owned and operated/lgbt/whatever? no. because of where i live, that shit doesn't happen. but what does happen is a lot of christian-pushing, and those are the same people, in this area, that are ultra-conservative and quite frankly terrifying. i stay away from them because of my own beliefs and how i live my own life.

sorry that gets a fucking bee in your bonnet, for whatever reason.

being defensive isn't helping, christianon

(Anonymous) 2016-05-12 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
christian gets a side-eye. minority religions don't. anything else doesn't.

OH NO CHRISTIAN PUSHING

THE HORROR

(Anonymous) 2016-05-12 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
why would i work for a company when they see me as one of the sinful queers who's going to hell? people in this part of my state still openly talk about shooting The Gays, and mentioning you don't believe in god causes a major public scene, so uh.

yeah i'm going to pass on that job.

honestly? i'll likely side-eye anything that lists itself as 'christian/catholic' anything if it doesn't have any real reason to be promoting religion in the first place. why? because christian run places are incredibly bigoted and biased against a lot of things. take the salvation army, for instance. supposed to be something that helps the downtrodden and homeless, but only if you're not gay or transgender. then you can go fuck yourself. so yeah, when an organization promotes itself as lgbt owned, i'm less likely to think twice about trying to get a job there than i would be if it was christian owned, because jobs like that can and have fired people over dumbass shit like buying birth control or being lgbt.

so in answer to the main question, it depends on both what the job is (do i really need to know your cake store is lgbt/christian run?) and what it is they're promoting.

this is why people are wary of christian businesses

because of weird, defensive assholes like you

(Anonymous) 2016-05-12 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
oh goodie, another christian who seems to think they're oppressed.

what do you expect from anything rwby related

(Anonymous) 2016-05-12 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Christian, maybe. Depends on the situation, but there are very few reasons that businesses slap the Christian label on (especially if it has nothing to do with the company otherwise) unless they're trying to make a statement of what they stand for in the over the top, family values sense. There are certain exceptions where it's warranted though, like for selling specifically Christian merchandise.

Other minority religions and ethnicities no, because these usually label themselves for a reason even if that reason is just to indicate that the business is a welcome place for said minority. Most of the time it's for more than that though, such as showing certain items are made by the group that has any claim to them (such as jewelry with religious or cultural symbols) or indicating Kosher or Halal treatment when it's food or animal products, etc etc

99% of the time, any company that tries to identify themselves in any other way than just a good company worthy of your patronage is because they're not worthy of your patronage and are trying to bait and switch.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-12 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
or really Catholicism denominations since those are the ones most against birth control, health insurance, and the evil evil gays more then any Protestant denominations

LMAO, you think the Catholics care more about those issues in the workplace than evangelical Protestants and non-denominational Christians? Try again.

Can someone summarize please? My timeline is freaking out over this but I am not reading almost 40 pages for some company I don't care about.

it seems to me that it's saying:

"weh weh i was fired and i'm going to appropriate the memory of a beloved dead employee to dredge up sympathy for me and make my bosses look evil. aren't i wonderful?"

yeah, i'm sure monty would have loved you using his name to stir up drama, ass.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-12 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
it was part of the question. go thump your bible somewhere else.

Re: RWBY

(Anonymous) 2016-05-12 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
basically what anon above said.

the company and the show went through some changes that he didn't like. honestly it reads to me like someone who's going through a really hard time, who also needs a break away from the show he and his dead friend worked on and some therapy, is taking out his anger on a source that doesn't entirely deserve it.

Re: RWBY

(Anonymous) 2016-05-12 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
i hesitate to say friend because if they're willing to use a dead "friend's" memory for their own gain, i doubt if they were ever truly a friend.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-12 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
No, at least not in the circumstances anon above outlined very clearly. All I can say is you must not be of any of the minorities or religious affiliations they mentioned above, or you would already know this.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-12 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
not an atheist and still think the majority of christians who are in your face about it are straight up bigots. haven't been proven wrong yet.
