Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

it's not about people calling them broken, though. it's about coming to the conclusion that they are broken, which is a fairly universal experience for ace people before they discover asexuality. it's not even about rude, nosy people, because it's obviously a lot bigger than a few assholes.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-08 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
stupid people and ugly people haven't tried to carve out exclusive spaces to try and console each other through an imaginary shared culture of stupidity and ugliness. fat is sorta different imo because some people actually do associate fatness with gluttony and gluttony with morality which is dumb and also rude.

It's been a long time, but I used to play the sanzas years and years ago.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-08 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
actually, plenty of people would argue that menally disabled communities have done just that

(Anonymous) 2016-05-08 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
that's even dumber lol. if it's not about rude, nosy people and it's a conclusion you reached on your own, then how is it sort of like gay kids being told they're hellbound? no gay kid arrives at the specific conclusion that they're hellbound without being told so.

and if you reached the conclusion that you're broken only to find out that asexuality is a thing that exists, then why would this require a whole support space? the only reaction this merits is "oh that's a real thing? cool i thought i was buggin' or something. anyways"

(Anonymous) 2016-05-08 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
those people are stupid and ugly

(Anonymous) 2016-05-08 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
except they do. you're so determined to see gay and ace as 100% different that you're completely ignoring the ways they're similar. gay kids come to the conclusion that they're hellbound because of a culture at large that tells them so, not individuals who are rude. same with asexuals.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-08 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
gay kids come to the conclusion that they're hellbound because of a culture at large that tells them so,

that's wrong though. i wasn't raised in a religious household or within a culture that revolved exclusively around christian ideals, it was only when i was exposed to bigoted individuals in the media saying that gay people are hellbound that the idea ever even occurred to me.

actually, how would any kid even come to the conclusion that they're hellbound without someone at least telling them what hell is or why people go there? none of what you're saying makes any sense, lmao. hell is not a concept that magically materializes within somebody's consciousness without it being directly explained to them.

Sorry buddy I live in reverse-o land aka the UK where if you live in a house or ground-access flat and still keep your cat indoors you're going to be considered a weirdo.

I can understand both sides of this when the US has crazier wildlife, and I imagine your level and kind of traffic isn't as easy for cats to learn to watch out for. Also we have some crazy arsehole butchering cats in Croydon. But my family's had outside cats since my mum was a little girl, 5 in my lifetime, and not one has been killed by something from going outdoors. Most other Brits are going to be the same, so it's not a culture that's going to change and will always make these arguments be practically a language barrier thing between the US and UK.

i'm not really sure it's even us vs uk, because i've seen a pretty healthy mix of attitudes across the us. i'm in canada. i live in a pretty urban area with apts and in the middle of a city, so people in this area generally keep their cats inside, but on the outskirts of it, people who live in houses or duplexes or have access to ground floors let their cats roam free. it's always been that way, or at least it has where i've lived along the west coast. it's dogs that people vary more vocally on out here. i've seen us residents keep their dogs outside and leashed up 24/7 and i hate that. people out here will call animal services on dogs left unattended. but inside a fenced yard is considered 'okay', so some people keep their dogs in those all day, 24/7. there's way more variety on dog ownership than there is on cat. you either keep your cats indoors or you let them go in and out as they please.

got a number of accounts, what're you looking for?

(Anonymous) 2016-05-08 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
so, just out of curiosity, what would you do if you found out that they rescued a bunch of orphans and puppies and kittens from a fire or something

(Anonymous) 2016-05-08 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
That's totally not what asexuality is though. It has nothing to do with having sex, it has to do with sexual attraction. Asexual people feel toward both/all genders/sexes that way gay people feel about the opposite and straight people feel about their own, which is not interested. No amount of having or not having sex suddenly makes an asexual person feel sexual attraction, just like someone gay or straight having sex with the opposite/same gender/sex respectively suddenly changes who they're attracted to.

like the other anon said, this happens because games accept videogame protags as a general rule instead of case by case basis.

i think there's confusion because people do use it both ways - there are people who call themselves asexual because they don't experience attraction, and there are people who call themselves asexual because they're sex-repulsed. onlookers who have trouble imagining the first case tend to conflate them.

this concept is good and you should feel good. this is like everything i've ever wanted and its a structured sandbox so i'm hoping to god that means game dynamics will actually work for hero v. villian activity.

that's exactly what an invasive species is

it isn't part of the ecosystem and its natural behaviors are inherently destructive to native species

wtf do you think an invasive species is

i know we all have our opinions on icons, so what are your thoughts on people who use animated ones in rp?
