Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Sorry buddy I live in reverse-o land aka the UK where if you live in a house or ground-access flat and still keep your cat indoors you're going to be considered a weirdo.

I can understand both sides of this when the US has crazier wildlife, and I imagine your level and kind of traffic isn't as easy for cats to learn to watch out for. Also we have some crazy arsehole butchering cats in Croydon. But my family's had outside cats since my mum was a little girl, 5 in my lifetime, and not one has been killed by something from going outdoors. Most other Brits are going to be the same, so it's not a culture that's going to change and will always make these arguments be practically a language barrier thing between the US and UK.

i'm not really sure it's even us vs uk, because i've seen a pretty healthy mix of attitudes across the us. i'm in canada. i live in a pretty urban area with apts and in the middle of a city, so people in this area generally keep their cats inside, but on the outskirts of it, people who live in houses or duplexes or have access to ground floors let their cats roam free. it's always been that way, or at least it has where i've lived along the west coast. it's dogs that people vary more vocally on out here. i've seen us residents keep their dogs outside and leashed up 24/7 and i hate that. people out here will call animal services on dogs left unattended. but inside a fenced yard is considered 'okay', so some people keep their dogs in those all day, 24/7. there's way more variety on dog ownership than there is on cat. you either keep your cats indoors or you let them go in and out as they please.
