I have legit run into one who thinks you can only get it if you live in Connecticuit, so.

The character I want to play is taken in the game I want to play them in by a perpetual flake, but the AC is so low that it'll be months until they get booted, if at all.

I'm just going to point out that you implied that if a thing is common it's not worthy of a label.

That makes literally no sense.

I've been playing with this idea for a while, since Ghostbusters hits a big nostalgia soft spot for me. Would love to have an AU game where characters can form their own Ghostbuster teams and franchises, but I want to brainstorm some other ideas to incorporate.

* All characters in New York, or allowed to form their own teams/units based on location? Might be kind of cliquey, but teams could always work together on cases, or wind up in the same location due to obligations to family members, vacations, etc.
* Team Leaders are in charge of running smaller plots for the rest of their team (but other members can volunteer to run a few). Occasionally the mod will offer plot packages containing a threat, plot details (vague or explicit depending on how much mystery/investigating is involved), and a more extreme disaster that requires the cooperation of multiple teams every couple of months or so.

Those are the two sticking points, where I can see some pros and cons, but I honestly think a Ghostbusters AU game has a lot of potential for fun and a mix of action/character development. If this game existed, what would you like to see? What wouldn't work? Also please don't let this devolve into a fight about whether the next movie will be any good. Canon characters will only be tangentially mentioned and won't be appable, though the original team may make an appearance via the mods.

Check the resources link -> active games spread sheet. They've got a 'number of new posts a day' column that can indicate if a game's relatively fast or slow these days.

Before DW my friends and I would create our own worlds or storylines, then port in our OC's to see how they would change or stay the same. It sounds like it was a lot more freeing than what canon-players strive to do, given that we often went in either with no previous CR to worry about, or with a network of friends who were really excited to figure out how they wanted to keep or change those connections. I liked it: the character I had used as a template would inevitably change to fit their circumstances, and if I liked where they were going I'd change them enough to become their own OC.

I'd love to see more of that on DW, but I would probably still only play an OC or a character with a cast played by friends I knew enjoyed spitballing new ideas. Keep OU canon characters for games where they can react to the plot stuff as themselves, save AU games for really meaty world-building and plot-building and old-school sort of collab-writing.

Coast with them and tag out more, and the moment you get a bite, plot until the end of time. It's the only way.

I love you, fellow MR anons! I've tried and failed emulating before with the disc summons and all (because alas, my MR discs aren't working in perfect condition anymore), but now I'm tempted to give it another shot once again.

Right, I'm a couple grad level courses right now and I stupidly decided to join a study group but instead of actually learning it's me teaching 6th grade pre-algebra review

I'm sympathetic to not having good quantitative skills but this is a graduate course for fuck's sake

my friend teaches in japan! she loves it, but was stressed out for a long time over how everyone sorta treated her like an alien, since she was a ~foreigner~. also she suddenly had a bunch of food allergies pop up, which I've seen happen to a few people I know who have moved to different countries.

that aside, though, she's been doing it for about three years now, and she loves it. the high schoolers she teaches seem like cool kids, and it's been a great experience for her.

i've taught abroad at an eikaiwa in japan as well as privately. plan to go back when i get the money, i worked for a small school that over hired and laid me off.

i had to save my friend from committing suicide the other day and they didn't commit her so she was free to try again the next day and now she's deleted her twitter so i have no idea of her status.

Sorry, but just because you say someone is stirring shit on anoncomms doesn't make it so. I follow her on plurk and all I ever see her talk about is tv shows and movies, so I'm not quite sure where this "she's constantly trying to involve people in drama" shit is coming from. Not a big fan of her personally, but I don't see it.

Stuff I've seen has made me curious but I'm not sure if there's really a variety of characters or if it's all a bunch of bland soldier-types
