rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. worst experience with a customer? do you guys ever host stuff like tournaments?

story time! so. since our shop is kind of in a bad location, we get a lot of people trying to trade in obviously stolen games from other retailers for cash. like, still shrink-wrapped with the retailer's price tags or used game stickers or the like. when it's one game at a time we usually let it slide, but there was one incident when an employee from the Best Buy in town gave us a call (because this is a frequent happening) and warned us that a regular thief of theirs made off with about 20 PS3 games and was probably headed to our store. sure enough i'm fairly new and by myself at the time so i have no idea what to do, but the guy on the phone said they'd already called the police and directed them to our store so all i had to do was deny the trade request and help the cops when they get there. thief arrives with his handful of games and absolutely reeking of pot, i tell him i can't take those games, he gets angry at me, the cops arrive in the middle of his tantrum and he knocks over a display shelf while running out the door. i have no idea what happened after that.

and we do host tournaments sometimes! i hate being there for them though, tournament players in my experience have been truly awful. Smash tourneys? "PIKACHU'S A FUCKING SPAMMER" "GET THE FUCK OUT" "YOU DON'T FUCKING KNOW HOW TO PLAY" and various other gamer trash talk like that. it's never a fun experience to watch, it's like all the shitheads who complain about ethics in gaming journalism condense into one room to shout obscenities at anyone they don't like. especially female players. as a result of so many shitty experiences we don't host tournaments that often and when we do we kick out anybody making comments like that.
