When the cat masturbates its chin

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Re: graphic designer!

how hard is it for you to find work? i graduated with an AD in graphic arts and i have had the worst time trying to find a job! i've thought about freelance but there's no way like if i'm not in an office there's no way i can work.

it's been really rough, actually :( i was lucky enough to get into a local print shop after graduating, but competition was stiff and they ended up shutting the whole place down. i was out of work for a while and tried to do freelancing but good fucking god people try to take advantage of freelancers so much. most don't understand that i'm basically charging minimum wage for my work and "that's too much can't you do it for $10?" was a question i was asked very frequently.

now i'm working at a copy center, and it's only part time, so i'm also working a couple evenings a week as a waitress. it's not the worst thing, i still enjoy the design work i get to do and i can afford rent and basic living expenses, i just wish i could do more design work and make a better living with it.

i worked in a copy center for years after graduating with my art degree (not gd, but i was in that program for a while), i feel you :'| on the other hand i also fuckin loved working in a copy center, i sort of miss it.

also i see you do logos eh, this is the absolute worst place to be talking shop but would you happen to have a portfolio you could pm to ~sockabout? i'm looking for something rn

i love the copy center i'm at too, it's cute little shop downtown with some of the kindest and sweetest people i've ever worked with so even though it's part time, i enjoy the hell out of it.

and sorry anon, but "i'm looking for something rn" doesn't exactly fill me with confidence about sending my hard work over the internet to an anonymous person. i'm sure you can google examples of logo designs and go from there.

that sounds great! the people really make it, tbh. and it's such great experience for practical application of all the digital design stuff you learn, ahhh

and i was going to give more detail via pm about the sort of work i'm looking to buy because like i said the middle of rpanons is not really the place to talk shop, but nevermind, i will look elsewhere

the correct way to ask about it would be "i'm looking for someone to do some logo design" then. just saying you're looking for something with no explanation beyond that sounds shady and i know better than to put my work out there if i don't know where it's going. good luck in your search o/

lmao you're right that was pretty shifty, i'm sorry about my bad phrasing. i'm jotting out replies at work so my attention was a little divided, and i might've ended up looking like an e-serial killer :[
